Reviews of Subversive Tattoo Parlor
"I came here on a whim while on a weekend vacation in the city. Marz did my tattoo, James my piercing. They’re both wonderful humans who made me feel welcome and safe. Unfortunately, I’m only giving 3 stars for a few reasons starting with I wasn’t given any aftercare instructions or product (to be sold, I expected nothing for free). Whether I’m seasoned or not, I should still be given some kind of instructions/advice or sold product for aftercare as everyone is different. Marz covered up my tattoo with second skin and they did give me instructions on how to keep it safe but not much else. James also didn’t give me advice on what kind of products to use to keep my piercings clean or when I can change my jewelry and didn’t inform me of the gauge of the jewelry they used so I can get the right jewelry when the time came to make a switch. Yes, you should always do your research on your own beforehand but your artist/piercer should make sure you’re properly informed regardless. I ultimately had to remove my nostril piercing that James did as I wanted it to align with my other nostril piercing (which I did mention before they pierced me) but it was way off which I didn’t realize until I changed the jewelry. Still a good experience overall as they do provide a comforting environment and I do love my tattoo."
"Absolutely love this place. Marz is an incredibly talented artist and has done multiple beautiful tattoos on me. To top it all off, there is a happy fish, cool wallpaper, and excellent tunes:)"
"The energy in this space is really exceptional. There's clearly love flowing through -- love for art and the craft of tattooing, mystical love, and big love for community and clients. Marz is phenomenal and open to figuring out designs that work for you. Check it out!"
