"Poor experience tonight. The organic produce section was a mess, limp & water saturated. Prices also too high. Same with clamshell greens, 2 to 3.00 more than other stores including Whole Foods (far better prices on organic veggies). Also, many of clamshell lettuces are not stored proper temp, look wet & limp, been saying that for a while too. That whole section has poor refrigeration. No one listens. Have to speak with the new store manager, spoke with last one. I've complained of the bulk section for a couple years, no change. Lower level nuts & such people put their hands in for snack. The organic basmatti smelled stale, been there, put back. Barely Burgers, Impossible have shelf life once out of freezer, must be labeled for 5 days. I see stickers up to 2 weeks or none at all. And, other meats like veal, beef with too long shelf life. Its a Public Health Issue. Shop Rite is no Fairway. Going to Whole Foods tommorow."
"I purchased coffee creamer from here on 1.2.24. When I went to use it the next morning, I saw that the expiration date was almost two weeks ago. It's gross and unsafe for a dairy product to be on the shelves this long past the expiration date. Definitely not legal to be selling this."
"I’ve shopped regularly at this Fairway for the last couple of years and it’s getting worse by the visit. Putting aside the grumpy staff and the fact that they only have mini carts (guess they want to discourage customers from doing a big shop), the quality of the produce has deteriorated significantly. I was there 3 days ago and had quite the job finding apples that weren’t bruised and dented. Ditto for finding berries that looked fresh. My favorite department was the meat department… until this week. I wanted to buy a couple of large first cut briskets but they were out. I asked if I could order about 16 lbs for next week and was told I could only do that with the manager, Denny. I was told to call him the next day. I did but no luck. Long story short, I’ve called him multiple times over the last 3 days but he’s never available. Out of extreme frustration, today I called to speak to the stores general manager. I was told her name is Alanza. After 20 minutes on hold, I hung up and called again. The same person answered and said she told Alanza about my difficulty placing a meat order. She asked for my number and promised Alanza would call me back. That was 3 hours ago! So, the bottom line is after spending $300 to $400 each visit, I’m done with Fairway!"
"Store has nice late hours which makes it convenient. Prices are ok, if not slightly high but that’s nyc. The self checkout staff need a serious retraining in customer service. I have worked checkout for years in a competing grocery store and know how to operate the self checkout more efficiently then most of the customers here… and yet they have made rude and aggressive remarks or told me to go faster multiple times when using self checkout. I can only imagine how rude they must be to people who aren’t as used to or comfortable using self checkout machines."
"I love Fairway Markets!!! The assortment of foods and pastry/snack departments rival Trader Joe’s. SNACKS GALORE!! Love it. Imported chocolates that are to die for. FAIRWAY MAKES A CHEESECAKE, that is one of the best you will ever eat. Just perfect texture and consistency."
