"I used to just got to Home Depot for my hardware but after going to Jaeger in Verona NJ I will only use them from now on. The manager Frank is great and will help you and work with you in anyway possible. All the men and women are nice and helpful. But one employee Jason T was amazing. I had an issue with a delivery and he went above and beyond and personally took care of it. I dont care if I just need a $ 5 box of nails I will dive further just to use Jaeger. Between Frank and Jason best supply house I ever dealt with."
"Honest experience with this store Context: Goal was to build front porch steps using composite decking. Sounds simple right? Guess again. TLDR: Avoid this store at all cost. If you have to use them - watch them like a hawk at every point in the process from account creation, planning, ordering, and invoicing. Lastly, expect to delay your project another month from the inevitable errors they’ll make. ____________________ Problem #1: I go in-person, and set up an account alongside writing down my credit card information on a separate form to attach to the account. When it’s time to pay via phone, they claim I did indeed set up an account, but didn’t have card information connected to the account, which makes absolutely no sense when I simultaneously opened the account and filled out the credit card form. Good to know there’s an unprocessed form with my CC information floating around in that store. Problem #2: They insisted I have my contractor bring in the dimensions and plans for my stairs and they would take care of the rest in terms of ordering quantity. Seems like white glove service! Nope. Don’t take their word for it. Even with the standard 10% overestimate accounting for error, I was stuck with way more deck boards than I needed, based off of their “recommendations." And all returns require approval and even if approved impose a %15 fee. Nice scam. Problem #3: They mess up my order TWICE. First, they give me the incorrect railing. Second, they forget to order the deck screws. Problem #4: When they take back the incorrect railings ordered, they also suggest they take back the post sleeves by giving us the rationale that the railings may not be compatible with the sleeves. Makes perfect sense to me. Little did I know, they wouldn’t provide any paper trail of keeping the post sleeves. When the new railings come in, they don’t provide the post sleeves and claim that we picked them up in the initial order. At this point their only solution is that I pay another $400 in post sleeves because they refuse to accept the fact that they never gave us the sleeves the first time. Logically, why on earth would I need an extra set of post sleeves? Do they suspect me of reselling them on the black market? Again, nice scam. Problem #5: They horrendously mark-up their prices. I’m all for helping local businesses, but after they tried cheating me out of $400 for 4 post sleeves at $100 a pop, I decide to check out the big box stores to find alternatives… only to find the same exact post sleeves at Lowe’s for $44. Are you kidding me? The funny part is, they claimed $100 was with their “employee discount” to make me think they were doing me a favor. On top of the horrendous customer service, they have the audacity to markup these items MORE than 200%? Laughable. Yet again, great scam."
"Overpriced by a long shot on my last two visits for bathroom renovations. The industry is crazy right now but still a substantial amount more than other yards or Home Depot even. I'll give em another shot because it's convenient but if its still the same price difference, it'll be the extra 10 minute drive elsewhere."
"As a woman ordering construction materials, I am unfortunately unaccustomed to being treated with respect by lumberyards, and yet every time I've interacted with any West Essex employee it has been positive, respectful and pleasant. I will be continuing to give West Essex Building Supply my business! I have never been disappointed by their courtesy, professionalism, and prompt delivery."
"I chose this store because it was open a half hour later than the other lumber stores on a Saturday and I am so glad I went to this supply house. Going to lumber yards can be intimidating at times if you’re not a regular contractor or a busy do it yourself-er. George Dirk helped me that day and he couldn’t have been nicer and more helpful. He was honest and guided me in the right direction when I was in he market for an Andersen French sliding door. He made the process quick and painless. They definitely procured a new customer for all my lumber needs. George also gave me a valuable lesson on tools purchased at a lumber store vs Home Depot. Thank you George for your help!"
