Primp & Polish (Lorimer)

"I was very disappointed in this experience. The salon itself is lovely and very calm and relaxing. They have a great selection of colors and the staff was very attentive. We did not have appointments and the place my friend usually goes to was full, but they were able to fit us in as walk ins. However, we got our nails done ahead of a beach vacation and special occasion. I rarely get mine done as I use an at-home gel kit usually. Since this was a special occasion, I wanted them to last longer. Within a few days of getting on my trip, several of my nails began to chip. By the end of the week, even one of my toe nails chipped. This spot was twice as expensive as other places in the area. In addition, there was a $10 upcharge on our pedicures for a "soak" that we were never asked about. I contacted them, and was informed I can reach out to a salon within 7 days of my appointment to get them redone, but I was out of the country and could not do so. I think it's reasonable to expect that a $130 gel mani-pedi should last more than a week and I would not repeat my experience at this salon."

"LOVE this nail salon. they do an amazing and thorough job every time. shout out to queenie, her shaping is ON POINT!! very cozy inside, the pedicure station is basically a couch which is really nice. they offer free drinks like wine, tea, hot chocolate, etc. definitely the only place ill be getting my nails done going forward!"

"My favorite nail salon I've been to in New York! Nice decor, very clean, amazing and friendly staff. They do a fabulous job each time and relatively quickly, which works for my schedule. Also love that they offer discounts during weekdays! Heads up that you can only tip with cash or Venmo"

"I had a hard gel fill manicure done today that took ~ 2 hours, but was very subpar. I had almond shaped nails when I came in for a fill, but she didn’t shape them correctly and filed them into a more oval shape which I don’t like. I asked for a chrome French design and showed a picture which she said she could do( I even showed a different easier design as a second option in case the first was too difficult, and she still was ok with the first). The nail design came out very bad and looks nothing like the inspiration. It is messy and glittery instead of chrome. Will let the pictures speak for themselves. Lastly, she didn’t inform me that the price would be much more expensive for my design than what I booked online- I was only told the new price when paying. I dislike these nails and how overpriced they are for looking so bad and will probably need to spend even more money to get them redone before my vacation. Overall very bad experience."
