Emma Nails on 72nd Street - A neighborhood Favorite 130 West 72nd Street, Manhattan, New York 10023

"I have been a loyal customer to Emma Nails for some time now, but after my last visit I will not be returning. When I walked in, one woman did my pedicure, then I was handed off to a second woman who did my manicure, seemingly because the first woman did not know how to do dips. The whole process took much longer than usual, a few nails came out uneven, and I did not receive the shoulder massage that is supposed to be included. When it came time to pay, I gave a generous tip despite these issues. The two women then demanded separate tips for each of them--even though I never asked for two women to complete the job and would have preferred only one so I could get out more quickly. I didn't have more cash and had already tipped on the entire bill so I apologized and started to leave, at which point one of the women commented loudly in front of everyone "guess we won't be getting any money today." It was humiliating, unprofessional, and uncalled for."

"Walked in to get my nails done. Ying Ying was absolutely phenomenal! What a doll. She was meticulous with her work. Truly went above and beyond. The hot towel and shoulder massage were a pleasant surprise. I’m coming back here for a pedicure later this week."

"Don’t be fooled by the decent prices for the area. I question their judgment, expertise and customer management skills after my last visit and do not plan to come back. 1. I made an appointment for 5pm on a Sunday and arrived a little after 5pm all to wait 15 minutes until one of the women was free. So essentially making an appointment means nothing - might as well walk in and you’ll get the same. 2. I then proceeded to get my gel soaked and wrapped in tinfoil which required additional waiting while the woman working on my nails went to go work on another pedicure (a walk-in after me) for an extended period of time. Not saying it was her fault - I think she was doing her best- but not sure why they are taking walk ins and working on them while others with an appointment have to wait for it. Actually I do know why- for the money. However they clearly did not have the staff and capacity to be accepting walk ins. If anything they could have told the woman if she was willing to wait until they had someone open. 3. When taking off the tip and gel of one of my nails, I felt a sharp pain against my nail and thumb. The skin behind the nail is now distressed from the woman going too deep (albeit I think she was doing her best but still) with one of the tools. Attached is a photo of the after math. All to say I did not proceed with getting polish on and paid for the soak off respectfully and left. Again I get they may have been doing their best but I’m not sure why their customer capacity is not properly managed and why they did not know what they were doing even on my nails especially when they were taking off the gel and a tip that I had gotten done at their salon."

"Had a great experience here yesterday. I was looking for a spot to get a dip manicure (to fix what another place did a couple weeks earlier) and saw a sign outside. As I was looking, another woman exited and told me I needed to try the place, so I came back the next day. I got a dip manicure and regular pedicure. Came out great! While as someone else mentioned, it's no frills and on the second floor of a walkup, it's clean, welcoming, and does an excellent job for a fantastic price. My technician was wonderful—friendly, attentive, and artful. Great massages here, too! I'd definitely come back."
