Pastrami Grill Bistro 83 River Drive, Garfield, NJ 07026

"If one lives near Garfield or even within a half-hour drive and is in the mood for a pastrami sandwich, look no further than Pastrami Grill Bistro. This New York City-style sandwich establishment has been open since 2021, and I paid them a visit for dinner after 2 years. Upon arrival, several patrons were enjoying their meal as the looping videos of various meats being sliced or grilled made the atmosphere unforgettable. The menu consists primarily of sandwiches and sides such as soups , fries, and knishes. Sandwiches come in only one size: 8 oz. As a starter, I decided on the matzoh ball soup. For the main meal, I went for the lean pastrami sandwich with mustard, accompanied by some half-sour pickles. It was one of the most flavorful matzo ball soups I have ever had. It was fresh, homemade, and full of celery and carrots, with a huge home-made matzo ball in a delicious broth. Pastrami melts in your mouth with the right amount of seasoning in the meat. Some of the staff were from the famous Katz on the Lower East Side and were very generous and accommodating from a customer point of view. You really get more than your money's worth because the slices of meat they put in are large. What a treasure to have this place locally, and I can continue to recommend it."

"Very good pastrami, corned beef, and brisket. Russian dressing is more tangy and red than usual. Brisket is more tomato-y. Good rye bread. It's like a mini Katz's but way more affordable. Matzah Ball Soup is good too."

"As a retired chef in the industry I can proudly say for my first time, The food was incredible the pastrami was not only savory but melts in your mouth, with the right amount of seasoning in the meat. The staff was very generous and accommodating from a customer point of view. I will be coming back for the next sandwich they come up with next. Keep up the good work you guys."

"Been to Carnegie and been to Katz and they certainly have delicious corned beef and pastrami. This is my 3rd time at the bistro and I must say you can certainly pay more other spots but you won’t get better pastrami or corned beef than this place. When ordering you get a taste on a small plate and trust me after the taste you will know what I am talking about. The person in the next booth got a steak with fries and the meal literally filled the table (rib steak and fries $13.95) I could tell he enjoyed his meal and I will try that next time. Quality food and quality service from people you can tell love their jobs."
