"Dr. Fawaz appears to be a very nice dentist but his newly acquired practice has been run in a very unprofessional way. I have been coming to the practice for 6 years before Dr. Fawaz bought it from the previous owner 2 years ago. The practice came with the clients who have scheduled their appointments months ahead so when we showed up to our regular check up we found out we had a new denstist and a whole new staff. Initially the doctor was ok and we figured we would continue to come. I have two children 12 and 5 year old and during the past 8 years we never once missed an appointment and we always schedule them 6 months ahead. I also bring my younger daughter every three months and pay out of pocket for the extra cleaning. The red flags came three months ago at our last appointment when the front desk person was rude, condesending and refused to give me a receipt for the services provided although I asked multiple times and finally left because my 5 year old was crying and was hungry after all day at school and then at the dentist. Today I had my 6 month appointment with both of my children for a cleaning and checkup. The front desk person called me Wednesday and I called her back later that day after I was done working but no one answered. Thursday the practice is closed. Today I rushed to pick up my children from school and rushed them on the bus 40 minutes to my regular appointment. I came in and signed both of them in at the front desk. There was NO one at the reception desk and no one around. I waited 30 minutes and saw Dr. Fawaz multiple times and he saw me as well but did not say anything. After 45 minutes of waiting the front desk person finally came back. She proceeded to call the two patients who came after me in and ignored that I was waiting with my two children. I stood up and asked if she saw I signed in. She said she saw but my appointment was cancelled because I did not call her back. The practice was open all day today and no one called to inform me my appointment was cancelled. The doctor saw my two children and said nothing. After he saw that I was upset he did not come out to speak with me and did not appear to be concerned. I am shocked and appaled at the behavior of the fromt desk staff who deal with youngest patients but more appaled at the professional conduct of the pediatric dentist who seems not to care about the very patients he is providing dental care to. Nowhere on his website does it state that the appointment will be cancelled. The front desk person seems to be rude and disrespectful to the parents who bring their children in and appears to not really want to be there or provide the services that she was hired to provide. Having a 6 year experience at Soma dental practice that was there before it is shocking how Dr. Fawaz handles customer service and approaches the clients, especially those who came along with the practice he bought from another owner. The situation could have been so easily diffused by simply appologizing for mis communication because my children were there and were watching. They said they don’t want to be back there and they do not want Dr. Fawaz to be their dentist which makes me very sad."
