"Horrible is describing this Dr too kindly. Had an emergency and he was the closest dentist to my house so went to him. Similarly to the feedback that others have provided, the office is extremely dirty and looks like it hasn’t been renovated since 70s. The front desk and the biller are clueless. All they are interested in is getting your money. They told me that would reimburse me when my insurance would pay them but that never happened. I called and emailed on several occasions, but they were all extremely rude. The job that Dr did is even worse than the attitude of his staff (which is really almost impossible). He put in a bridge which fell out a week after and when I went to another dentist they were horrified that any dr could’ve done such a horrible job. As others mentioned, stay away from this place!"
"This is the worst place I've ever been with my mom!!! My mother is 82, she is disabled. Very dirty office, this place is not suitable for ADA (disabled people), because very narrow entrance. The bathroom outside of his office on 2nd floor is shared with other offices. The lock was broken, but dental assistance tried to open it for my mother. I tried to help her open it and when I managed to open the door, I was shocked: inside was very-very dirty and none of the toilets flushed, disgusting smell, like somewhere in the public restrooms. Inside in the office was very dirty as well. Moreover, at the office there were a lot of flies, and I tried to drive them away from my mother. All the medical equipment’s from the last century. When dental assistance did X-ray, I was told that we need to wait about 15 minutes when X-ray will be ready. Finally, the doctor came. I wasn’t sure it was doctor, because he was without any uniform and he is even did not washed his hands and put on gloves. He brought a lot of small X-ray pictures and was examine them through a magnifying glass. I tried to ask some questions, but doctor was very unpleasant. It was very unprofessional. He didn’t explain anything, he just filled the tooth, but finally the result is - the filling get OUT THE NEXT DAY!!! I would not recommend going to this office at all. It is very unpleasant dirty office!!!"
"I was very impressed that I was taking in a timely matter according to my appointment time there was no waiting. I only had one cavity to fill. But he even put some numbing spray on my gum to make sure I didn't even feel the needle. I was very impressed by that with most dentists don't even bother to do that."
"My overall experience was pretty subpar. The bad: - As others forewarned in their reviews, it is a very rundown, hole in the wall kind of place above a restaurant, quite dated and dirty. It felt more as if the office had been untouched in years, not as if someone was currently practicing there. The floor tiles looked discolored, maybe water damaged--badly in need of some mopping. There was spiderweb in the corner of the room I was being seen in. I could only hope to God that the dental equipment was cleaner than the surroundings. - One of the receptionists who greeted me seemed a little snide and condescending, not very friendly or even clear at times. - Dr. Schaffer himself was OK, not too friendly but not necessarily rude either. Just gave off this indifferent vibe. I didn't even know we were done until he told me to "get out" in what was probably supposed to be a lighthearted tone. He did not give me an actual cleaning (you know, with the special motorized toothbrush and that bubble gum taste; not sure if that's because I was due for some fillings next appt. and he wanted to wait until after--he didn't explain so I have no clue). Maybe they don't include that with my insurance??? - Not that this was necessarily the dentists' fault but the women's bathroom outside of his office (2nd floor is shared with other offices) was equally dirty and none of the toilets flushed. The whole place just gave me the creeps. The good: - He did scrape the plaque off most of my teeth and gave me the referral for an oral surgeon to remove my wisdom teeth (no qualms about that). - One of the receptionists I often spoke to on the phone was warm and cordial (I assume she is not the same one I met in person). - The dental assistant who set me up for Dr. Schaffer was very sweet and gentle; I believe her name was Caren. She smelled like cigarettes (no offense, it was just a bit much seeing as she had to get close to me to take X-rays etc.) but that doesn't take away from how kind and efficient she was. So...if you took the time to read all that, I'd say, just go somewhere else... they're not bad people but the place needs a major makeover."
"The worst experience the dentist I’ve ever had, I left with the start of a root canal, which ended in infection and me having to go to an oral surgeon. Then, he has the nerve to personally bill me. Meanwhile, I am still awaiting a phone call back, or even just to know if I’ve been approved for the root canal that he started. Awful work, tried to remove a post from my implants, was on able so just bent it to the side… Was asleep in a back room, smelled, dirty clothes and did not explain anything. When I asked a question, he walked back into the room he was asleep in, that is how I saw the couch. I am afraid of him, to other people I know one with me, all of us hoping for a new dentist, and all had awful experiences, two of us ended up with infections. Beware of dentists like him. I walked out in more pain than when I walked in. I only walked in due to a missing implant. Worst dentist ever, I’ve been to many and only had one good. I would give him -5 stars, but it is not an option! I am disgusted by his office behavior, very unprofessional and I’m still awaiting my emergency phone call."
