"I had a horrendous experience getting full highlights from Jeanine at this salon. It was taking ages while she tended to another client, by the time they washed out the bleach my hair had overprocessed and started falling out in the sink. She never apologized, told me I just didn’t understand the process. It was humiliating, terrifying and something I am still living with for months. Then they had the nerve to charge me the full $85 for a haircut (I gently combed my own hair and refused to let them blow dry it). I beg you not to go to this salon, especially Jeanine for color."
"It has been a very long time that I can honestly say..."I LOVE LOVE LOVE MY HAIRCUT." I was visiting my cousin from California and desperately needed a redo on my last haircut. My cousin referred to me to KATE. Kate did wonders to my hair. She gave my hair lots of body and shape with beautiful layers, which also framed my face beautifully. She exceeded my expectations. My straight fine Asian hair has been so dull and lifeless and all I have been doing to my hair daily is to up in a ponytail and that didn't every satisfy me. So ecstatic that it is no longer the case. I love the way that I can just wash and dry my hair daily with not much fuss. THANK YOU KATE! You got me. :) I'll definitely see Kate for a haircut whenever I'm visiting NJ"
"I absolutely love the vibe in this salon. Very friendly staff starting from the person who checks you in, to the person who washes and rinses your hair. For me, a great hair cut is everything. And kate always gives exceptional hair cuts not only to me but who ever is blessed to sit in her chair. Now I have found Jeanine who does my color and I love how I look every time I leave the salon. A big thank you to these wonderful ladies. And thank you to Melissa (assistant), your shampoo, color rinse and scalp massage was very relaxing. Def would recommend this salon to my friends and family."
"I am extremely sad to write this review. I’ve been going to Charles Studio for a long time for haircuts, styling, and eyebrows threading. The experience has always been excellent. The staff is professional and at the top of their game. Yesterday, I was running with the planning for my sons’ bday and I forgot about my appointment. When contacted by the salon 15 minutes into the appointment I dropped what I was doing and headed there but due to traffic it took me 10 minutes to arrive. I arrived to a very angry owner who scolded me for being late like if she was talking to a five year old. I was apologetic and agreed this was my own fault and I was happy yo pay the late fee. She told me they could no longer do my coloring since I was this late. I pleaded to get it done because It was my sons bday this weekend but she just charged me and dismissed my request. Cancelling the appointment because of my lateness is something I can understand. But the way she embarrassed me in front of everyone is unacceptable, especially given the fact that Ive been a customer for years and this was the first time this happened. And the fact that when they have cancelled on me last minute or even asked me to dry my own hair (yes, at the salon!) because the staff that was supposed to help me wasn’t feeling well I said absolutely nothing and loved on with a smile. I’ve always tipped above 20% and have a great deal of respect for everyone who has take care of me. Immediately after I left the salon she scheduled my next appointments, as if expecting I would come back after that. I called immediately to cancel. I have found another establishment a to help me with all my needs half a mile away. As a small business, despite being one of the best salons around, they shouldn’t lose sight that it’s the customers, specially the long standing ones, that keep them in business. No one should be addressed this way. No matter the circumstances."
