"Do not go to Gabrielle, she is a nightmare! She turned my hair a very brassy, orange color and is the most unprofessional, immature, worst stylist I have ever encountered. My experience with Gabrielle was awful from start to finish. I went to her for the first time for a blonde balayage. We spent time at the beginning discussing what I wanted. Here are all the problems I had with Gabrielle: 1. SHE GAVE ME BRASSY, ORANGE HAIR: After my hair was dry, I saw that it had very uneven streaks of brassy, orange and it had an orange, reddish color all over. 2. SHE WAS RUDE AND DEFENSIVE: I told her I wasn't happy with the color while I was still in the chair and she became defensive and then aggressive. She was gaslighting me telling me, "I gave you exactly what you asked for." No blonde ever asks for orange hair. It was so uncomfortable and I just wanted to leave because I was so upset. I asked if she could fix it and she told me to wash it a few times and let her know via instagram how my hair was looking. A few washes later and it was looking even worse. It was still a bright, brassy orange, but the color was getting even more uneven and splotchy. We went back and forth on instagram message. 3. SHE ASKED IF I WOULD PAY TO GO BACK TO HER FOR A FIX:  She turned my hair orange and then asked if I would pay to fix it. I was disgusted. I then asked to speak to the salon owner. The salon owner said the salon policy was to have the client come back in for a free fix. He offered to have me come back and see his wife and co-owner of the salon for a fix, which I appreciated. However, at this point I was done Hair 491, because my experience with Gabrielle had been so bad. I wanted to go to one of my former stylists who I trusted to fix my hair. (Which I have since done and my former stylist gave me exactly what I wanted and my hair is beautiful again.) 4. SHE BLOCKED ME ON INSTAGRAM AND VENMO: My experience with Gabrielle had been so awful and it was going to cost me a lot to get my hair fixed, so I thought giving me the tip back was the least she could do. I sent her a message via instagram and a refund request on venmo. She blocked me on both sites. My messages were professional and direct, nothing offensive that warranted blocking a client. For a hairstylist to block a client shows how immature and unprofessional they are. My experience with Gabrielle was simply the worst. Save yourself from a nightmare and DO NOT GO TO HER!"

"Gabrielle is amazing! She definitely knew how to deal with my curly hair and how to properly cut it. She assessed my hair before the big chop to see what would fit best for me and even catered to my ridiculous requests. She gave me so many tips and tricks on how to take care of my hair because it’s super thick, curly, & dry at the ends. Her advice definitely has been making my hair happy. Thank you Gabrielle!"

"I have gone through so many different stylists and salons over the last 6-7 years, never quite finding someone who helps bring out the best *me* when it came to my hair. Back in December, I spontaneously decided to make an appointment at Hair491 when my balayage needed to be touched up and it was by far one of the best decisions I've ever made. Everyone here is so so nice and committed to/passionate about what they do. You can literally see how much they care about their clients and how genuine they are. In the past, I've wanted to try more exciting looks with some color mixed into my balayage, but I was always met with reluctance until I met Alicia. When I tell you she is the best stylist I have ever worked with, I am not kidding- I genuinely think I would fly back to NJ just for an appointment with her if I ever move. We had a brief consultation before my first appointment and she picked up on my lack of excitement about the usual blonde/caramel balayage I usually asked for and we explored some other options, eventually landing on a rose gold look that has brought out the most confidence I have had in years. I used to stress over my hair appointments, and now I look forward to them because I know I'm going to leave feeling better than I did when I walked in. If you aren't sure if you should make an appointment here, trust me-- it is beyond worth it!!
