Reviews of 3 Giovani
"Lovely meal - in particular the calamari and shrimp starter which to my surprise and delight had no batter, just deliciously swimming in lemon and garlic and cooked to melting perfection. Very good food. When paying over $100 for a bottle of wine it would be good to have it poured but typical in NY and why a lot of us give up tipping, as it’s not earned."
"I’ve been going here numerous times a month for a good bit. Made a reservation for a 7 pm dinner this past week, but my friend was about 45 minutes early. The entire restaurant, both inside and out, was empty. She asked if she could order a glass of champagne while she waited and use the restroom, but before the hostess could answer, the manager that was seated in the back yelled across the restaurant- “not possible”, without even so much as getting up to explain. He followed it up with- “we’re booked w/ reservations”. She let him know she’d get up as soon as they had a table, but yet again, no professional courtesy- not a handshake, not even the respect to stand up to speak to a patron. He yelled from the back again “Nope”. Needless to say, we canceled our reservation & left a message for the manager (who never returned the call). Here are the pictures of the completely empty restaurant, both at 6:10 PM, and an hour and 20 minutes later. Again, not one single table in the whole place. Sidebar, when I went to their online reservation platform, every single timeslot came up as available. It’s almost like the manager on duty didn’t want business and just wanted to close early. It’s a shame, and disappointed by the lack of customer service to not even get so much as a phone call back."
"My friend and I often meet at 3 Giovani for lunch during the work week and we’re always very pleased with our experience. The food is well made and so delicious, the service is good, and the space is cozy and inviting. Recently, I took my sister for dinner while she was visiting and again had a fantastic experience. I’ve only been visiting over the last year or so, but it is quickly becoming one of my favorites!"
"We stopped here on a whim, and had a wonderful time. Morrow was the host and he suggested the one that was good. I had Baratta with vegetables and the cheese was a good quality. My wife had arugula salad. I had the rigatoni with sausage, and it was delicious and my wife had the. Flounder, with roasted potatoes. It’s a real scene because you’re watching people walk by and it’s like watching a TV show to see all the different characters but of course we ate outside. The bathroom is downstairs if that’s a problem for you. All in all the food was good, the service was good, and it was a nice place. I would go here again. I forgot to tell you, but we had fresh fruit for dessert. Much better than a fattening dessert."
"A charming hidden gem in Soho/Greenwich Village. I am sooo happy to have stumbled in here one day with friends. The decor is beautiful and the food is delicious. Staff was lovely and attentive. We were grateful to be sat right away. One in our group was in crutches and the manager was so kind to help get us settled at our table. We started with their stuffed squash special and caprese salad- a unique dish and a true classic. We then had their seafood pasta special, margarita pizza (I added red pepper), and their veal parmesan. CHEF’S KISS. They had a solid wine selection (we got a bottle of Gamay) and they make a mean dirty martini ;) We finished with a cheese plate and the panacotta- so good and finally, a nice espresso in the USA. We were a group, but this would be a really great date spot. They have a cool playlist and iconic photos framed. I’m hoping to come in when they have their discoball going. I really feel like I hit the jackpot and almost wanted to keep this treasure for myself!"
