"The music seemed loud when we arrived. But as our visit progressed, I observed that the music was JUST above the (very) few loud children, and my father with the hearing aids was not turning them off. The restaurant seems to be a great neighborhood destination. Almost every table on Sunday afternoon had at least one stroller. There was a Sip and See Baby Shower in the front room. Service seemed to be sparse, a little more attention should have been paid, it seemed like there was only one wait staff for the 12+ tables in the main room, with the occasional runner delivering meals. We started with chicken liver pate and a pretzel. The chicken liver pate plate was amazing, showcasing the chef's talents. We moved on to the Butternut Squash Risotto - excellent, and the fish and chips. The fries were not hot.... they did not arrive cold, but after i waited for the malt vinegar and my beer they were well on their way to just warm. Dessert was the sticky toffee pudding and apple tart. Both were very good. Again these showcase the kitchen's talents when not actually running service - all these are made ahead. If I lived in the neighborhood, I might visit a couple times a year."

"I came here for Wednesday trivia. It was actually really fun and they had cute Christmas decorations! The staff is soooo sweet! The waitress we got was super nice and they didn’t have an ingredient for a drink I wanted and the bartender personally came to our table to ask me if it was okay for him to switch it out. The food was also good too! I would definitely come back here for trivia"

"I went for a brunch and the food was not great at all. First the eggs were cooked through (porch eggs yolk should be runny), and secondly had a crunch factor (egg shells). Also I their source was too sour for my liking but that might just be me. The reason the rating isnt one star or two is because I enjoyed the salad that came out with the main and they quickly switched my egg to bacon without any charge. Wouldn’t go back again though"

"This past weekend we had our daughter and her fiancé’s engagement party at HH. From start to finish it was a great experience. We live over an hour and a half away and chose HH in Jersey City as a middle point for family and friends coming from all over. I choose it sight unseen. It’s a great size, but charming with lots of bright light. I conversed many times with Jen before hand and she was responsive and helpful. She even sent photos. Extended staff helped us unload our car when we arrived. The day of the party, Alana was wonderful even jumping behind the bar when needed. While running the restaurant she consistently checked in to make sure things were running smoothly. She was great. Kyle was our server, but that title does not even come close to what he did that day. He was so helpful and attentive and went well above anything I could have wished for. He was a real rockstar! We were late for setup (city traffic) and he made sure everything was executed perfectly. Thank you! The place was so great that after the celebration, many stayed to hang around at the bar. My only complaint was that the catered food we ordered went so fast. We ordered plenty, but it was soooo good, people came back for seconds and thirds. Thank you for making our family’s special celebration wonderful!"

"Had a private birthday party here. Very impressed with the quick and attentive service of Nicole! Nicole was incredibly friendly and always on top of the ball. The atmosphere is amazing and the restaurant is very well decorated. Bar tenders are super friendly and the place is lively. The restaurant is handicap accessible including the bathrooms. There is no sign on the bathroom doors indicating accessibility but it is."
