Mohegan Diner

"It's an average diner with arbitrary rules. Can't say I had a disappointing experience, because I know what to expect coming here and I'm just gonna talk about that. I suspect they're gearing their dining rules to discourage the after-movie, teen crowd from eating here or poorer folks: 1) No splitting checks after 8pm (what about folks on first dates?) 2) $5.00 charge for "sharing plates" 3) $5.00 minimum order per person. 4) They may charge an auto-tip arbitrarily, not based on the size of the dining group. 5) Heads up on the upcharge for using a debit/credit card—card companies are predatory. By the way, given the $5 minimum order per person rule, their menu didn't have much that was $5, some items were $4.95 or $4.98 and it seemed that way by design. A few items are below that. But all of these things seem both socially and legally murky. They speak to how the owners/manager run the place and how there's a clash with some of the clientele they get. Other random issues is I noticed their menus were sticky. Not just mine, all three of ours. The salad prices were ridiculous, there are $30-$40 salads, which I'm not sure why you order that at a dinner unless the ingredients are quality and proportions are huge. Those are Manhattan prices. Not trying to rip on this place. It's an average diner with some, I suspect, purposefully rules to discourage some clientele that I just wanted to point out. Food and service was average diner quality. I prefer the Croton Diner and Yorktown Diner."

"Every Sunday, my family and I go out to eat and happen to be in the area and choose the Mohegan Lake Diner. Unfortunately, the diner did not meet our expectations based on previous visits. In the past, everything was great on the 4-5/5 level, though after our last visit on Sunday the 23rd, we were met with some dissatisfaction with our service. We had an inconsistency with who our server was, there were no refills even offered, and in addition to that, part of the order was wrong, normally, I do not complain about a place, but what this place did was the forced upon tip on our receipt. They forced a 20%tip on my parents and me, which is outrageous for three people. On top of that, when we asked for a customer copy of the receipt, we were denied a copy, and all I have is a picture of their menu claiming that they can just add a tip to whomever they felt like doing it to and the absence of a notice on their entrance door. As for this establishment's information and future reference, I did look into customer service laws and found that tipping and how much of a tip, if any, is completely up to the customer. Not saying that we wouldn't have tipped, but we did not appreciate the forced tip. We will not be coming back until we hear that the issue has been resolved and that there is something done about the blonde old lady's behavior towards my parents."

"What can you expect at a dinner? 6:30 pm Thursday night. Rude Server( lady ) Don't even know her name. Food whatever Server Rude Atmosphere : employees talking about their personal business. Any whooooo !!! We won't come back."

"The place is good, but needs work. The waitress had very little patience for us. She wanted to rush us with ordering (the place was empty). We ordered first for my son. We did it right away because he was hungry. She immediately wanted to take our drink order, but I said I needed a minute. She almost bark at me. I ordered Greek salad with gyro meat. The portion was big, and the salad was good. It would have been perfect if I hadn't had to re chop the lettuce. The pieces were big, the salad was difficult to eat. The meat was delicious, but I almost cracked a tooth with the olives. Pitted olives would have been better (just a suggestion). My husband ordered lamb. He says it was just ok. The portion was on the smaller size. We ordered chicken fingers for my son. He liked it and they looked good, not frozen. We have to return our wine, a fly landed on it. We couldn't even talk without having bugs flying around us. They need to solve this. Maybe their plants are attracting bugs. I'm not sure if we will comeback."
