"A little disappointed in our tea this time. The baked potato soup tasted like awful- very runny, tasteless and under seasoned - almost like dishwater. We were extremely disappointed this year as champagne was usually offered in the past and this time, nothing… even charging the same price. When asked after our tea had concluded we were told that they still offer but it is only on request. Why wasn’t this disclosed in the beginning? We would have loved a glass, especially if laying for it already. Food and service were better last year. Had to ask for water during middle of the tea as none was offered in the beginning. Beautiful house and beautiful rooms though. We were overly disappointed in our annual girls tea this year ."

"We had such an amazing time at the afternoon tea we attended. The rooms were beautifully decorated, and the Christmas decorations were so elegant. Our server Peggy, was so sweet and attentive. The food was delightful, my picky son even enjoyed the food. I've never seen him so willing to try so many new foods in one meal before. This was our first time at the Mathis house and he's already begging to go again."

"I have been to the Mathis house several times in the past and it always remains outstanding. From the food to service, it is exceptional. This was my first time to visit for the holiday season. What fun it was, so magical with a "real" Santa & Mrs. Clause. We took in the delight of the wonderful decorations, pictures with Santa & Mrs. Clause, sipped on complimentary tea & ate delicious cupcakes. Put this one on your holiday stop for next year, you will not be disappointed!"

"Absolutely charming place! We had tea service and couldn't have been more pleased with the tea, food and service! We were so full when we left, dinner wasn't needed! The staff had a way of making everyone they were serving feel like family (special thank you to Julia)! They have plenty of items to purchase to remember your visit (at incredible prices). We also saw the owner making sure the patrons were comfortable! For those who need it there is a small elevator to bring you up to the porch which made it accessible to all! Worth a stop and a great place to have a get together!!! Can't wait to visit again!"
