"This is my favorite coffee shop in the city, even when I don't go there pretty often. The space, vibes, and people around are always nice. Either way, if you want to have just a coffee or a meeting, it's awesome. Very peaceful! And I love so much to have all the bike community scenes there! Best drinks (to me) maple late and Chai! One of the gems in NYC ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️"
"Always great staff and service! Yummy vegan croissants, morning bun, hot chocolate, and oat milk lattes! All are welcome! ☮️"
"This place was screaming gentrification. I came into Principles an early Tuesday evening with my boyfriend. It was nearly empty, with only one other customer. Initially I thought “Ok, this is cute.” They had a very random offering of snacks and soaps for sale. As I ventured further in, I noticed the whole place had a weird misshapen setup. It was very industrial and messily thrown together. The barista was very friendly and accommodating and I did like their sign explaining their high coffee prices were to support livable wages for employees. Unfortunately the coffee I paid for was gross. I ordered a decaf vanilla latte and initially I thought the decaf was the problem so I tasted my boyfriend’s. That was gross too. Maybe it was the vanilla. Either way, I threw mine out. Drinking our coffee here we noticed the atmosphere was boring and quiet. The only noise came from the music which was terrible. It went from boring garage indie to death metal. I’m a fan of both indie and hardcore but this was not it for me. Currently, I would not recommend, as it did not deliver good coffee or the vibe I prefer, but I like to try every place twice. So maybe I’ll come back and give it another chance."
"The coffee is amazing. The space is amazing. The staff is amazing. If you had a bad experience here, it's probably because you were rude and you should do some reflection. They pay their workers a living wage and still manager to offer coffee on a sliding scale for those who need it. If that makes you angry, again, do some self reflecting. I'll happily pay an extra dollar so the staff makes decent money, the coffee tastes great, and they support the community. Well worth it in my book. If you're in the neighborhood (and have good vibes), def stop in!"
"Great coffee shop, cool atmosphere. Very good coffee. The only issue is the price, although it does include tax and tip ($22 croissant and pour over) so hoping the staff are paid a decent wage, which I can certainly support. But be aware going in."
