"Although I love this shoprite, I am sooo disappointed with what they have done to the Mannix Family Cheesecakes. Up until the new year this delicious cheesecake was $10.99. After 1/1/2024 the price jumped to $14.99. Yes that was a big jump, but we still purchased it because it was so good. On Jan 27, we purchased another one and were very disappointed. The cheesecake now has an extremely thick and gummy crust. Never before did it have a crust. The new crust now changes the whole texture of the cheesecake portion. Less cheesecake, more money, no thank you."
"The employee at the self-checkout, a black-haired girl, was standing there talking and doing nothing. She exhibited a bad attitude towards customers. When I asked for help, she not only refused but also threw a fit. On a positive note, a guy at the self-checkout was incredibly helpful and promptly assisted us. It was a day shift around 2-3pm."
"I generally like this store and travel from a distance just to come here. This week I had an unpleasant experience at check out. It is Can Can week and in addition to my fairly small usual items, I purchased 12 cans of the tuna and 10 cans of the soup on promotion. When I gave my shopper card to the cashier I said with a smile- sorry for all the cans.. As I was packing my bags, the cashier and the customer in back of me began a lengthy discussion about my purchases and how unhealthy the soups were and how they couldn’t understand why anyone would buy so many canned goods and they supposed I didn’t like to cook.. My purchases weren’t excessive and this was The Can Can Sale after all!! I felt this was uncalled for and unprofessional and it frankly pissed me off. This was a middle aged/older cashier who should know better. I didn’t say anything because I didn’t want to start a whole scene in a busy store. Perhaps management should send a memo to the staff about polite behavior."
"The parking lot is terribly designed, so much that I don't go there in person unless it's a dire emergency. I use (or should I say no longer use) the Shop at Home option. Their substitution algorithm (I refuse to believe a live person can be responsible for it) is at best thoughtless and at worst shady. Order a sale item on line, if out of stock (understandable) the substitution option (the ONLY option) is a similar item that is NOT on sale, despite their being numerous other varieties/flavors of the same sale item. In many cases, you are then unable to order enough of the sale item for the sale price to kick in on the items that ARE in stock, causing those to revert to full price with no option to cancel them. An example. Bags of chips are 3 for $7, but only 2 of my choices were in stock. Instead of offering any one of the other 11 varieties that were on sale, the choice was a non sale item. Even if I chose to substitute with that item, for 2x the sale item's price, the 2 formerly sale priced items would then be charged to me at full price since I didn't order the minimum of 3. Also, a brand of full sized hamburger roll sale item had a different brand of slider rolls (at non sale price) offered, thus we had no hamburger rolls that night. The list goes on and on. 2 complaints to their customer service have gone unanswered, thus my next grocery shop will be at Stop and Shop. We'll see if they can do better Update to owner response: Too little, too late. You have 2 in depth reports sent to you already with my name and Shop Rite ID number on file. Do your own research into your shortcomings. It's telling that those reports went unanswered but a public one has you so concerned."
"This is a very active and busy grocery store. For some reason it feels like it has a lot more products than most other stores of the nature. This might be partially due to fitting the same amount of items into a smaller area, but it feels jam-packed. The parking lot is a decent size but one may still need to put a little effort into finding a parking spot during busy hours. There are handicap spots for parking and motion sensor automated doors for wheelchair access. The produce section is large. All of the standard area is such as deli, seafood, bakery, etc are all present. Additionally there is a hot food buffet, sushi area, and pizza spot inside the grocery store. Just at the entrance, there is a Dunkin' donuts. Comparatively, there is a relatively small area for restrictive diet such as vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free. With that said, there's still a good selection and comparable number of products available when compared to other stores."
