"Our first time at Fred's....off season in Stone Harbor soseemed like a good time to give it a go. Did not disappoint. Late Saturday meal and it was pretty full. Large long bar to the left., fireplace close to the middle...and tables to the right. Nice just right menu. Jamaican jerk wings....giving off some heat but they were fried well and def worth a Buffalo try. Shrimp tacos and chix fried cheese steak. Our server was great...warned us about the wings..lol.... Very minimalistic but clean as a whistle. Liquor store and Fred merch for sale next door."
"When you travel finding a good place to eat is often a gamble. You can read reviews but depending on the reviewer you may or may not be mislead. Some people value size of a meal more than quality and this is most often what happens with bar food. You can go into almost any bar that offers food and order a nondescript cheese steak, hamburger or fries and if you close your eyes you can revisit the last bar you had a meal. This holds true for Freds in Stone Harbor. The food is not bad it’s just more bar food. I ordered a cheese steak and loaded fries. The cheesesteak was good enough but just another cheesesteak. The “loaded” fries were more of a disappointment. I think by loaded they meant the giant lump of sour cream on top. The bacon and cheese you generally expect on loaded were almost nonexistent. I am not trashing Fred’s in particular it’s more of a I should have known better. I prefer quality rather than quantity which of course usually means avoiding tavern food. It is usually just like the last time you were convinced to try a bar. I often see reviews about how huge their sandwiches are or the mound of French fries but they are generally all based on bulk rather than ingredients or prep. If you like bar food Fred’s is a good choice if you are looking for a better meal then keep on looking."
"Absolutely love Fred's. Fred's is one of those restaurants you'd cry if it went downhill. For years it's been a staple in my family of "hey let's go to Fred's. The food has always been top notch, and never let us down. You could come in having a horrible day and leave with a smile, good food will do that to you. Definitely on my first choice list for restaurants in the area. (Also those damn onion rings are to die for. Absolutely 20/10) Also really loved my burger, really well cooked and prepared."
"Had a very nice charcoal grilled Burger. Nachos are excellent. Couldn't go wrong with the Maryland crab soup had a nice bit of a zest to it. The beer battered fries are crunchy, moist & very flavorful. The other patron stated that it was the best cream of mushroom soup she's had in some time. Give Fred's a shot if you're cruising through Stone Harbor."
"I've been visiting Stone Harbor for 50 years and since I was old enough to remember there has always been a Fred's Tavern. Over the years it's expanded from just a liquor store to a great Tavern bar and now they have a pretty nice inside restaurant area and also an outside patio dining area. Good to be comfortable inside with the AC when needed, otherwise I personally prefer the outside patio. Fred's has always had fair prices on everything they sell which can be hard to find in a summer Resort Beach town. Was very pleasantly surprised to learn they have a very good menu with an amazing kitchen! Great steak and cheese subs if that's your thing but they also have great salads and other fare. Had one of the best chicken fajitas in my life here. Best onion rings by far! No question. And to top things off menu items are not outrageously expensive either. Very reasonable prices!"
