Reviews of Escondido Mexican Cuisine & Tequila Bar
"On this trip today it seemed to be a little hectic. We had 9 people and the server seemed to be a little overwhelmed. Drinks and food came out wrong. Despite that the food had good flavor. The birria tacos had good flavor but shells seemed to fall apart. The tomatillo salsa is top notch. We will be back again."
"This was our first time and surly the last. It was without a doubt THE WORST place I've ever eaten. It is so dirty. The cap of the hot sauce had so much crust around it I could hardly get it open. The skirt steak was so hard I couldn't chew it. Rice and beans were like mush. After being grossed out I saw a hair on the dish. Now I know why the place was empty. SAVE YOUR MONEY"
"Ordered takeout and man is this place overpriced. $36 for 2 Birria Tacos and an order of nachos. If the food was good it wouldn’t be so bad, the nachos were as average as they come. Definitely quantity over quality. They did give more then a reasonable amount, but they should considering their $18! The tacos were overpriced. I don't mind spending money on food if it is good quality but these were not worth it. I asked if they came with consome over the phone and they said yes, but it came with a thick sauce that wasn’t good at all. The craziest thing is they charge $8 a taco… I would definitely stay away from here. Their are cheaper, better, and more authentic options for Mexican food in the area."
"Food, atmosphere , service was amazing ! They have happy hour on Sat and Sunday 11:30-4:00. Good deal on drinks and food They do have kids menu($9) We were sitting outside by the fountain. And enjoyed our meal with an amazing view"
"Thought this place was very very good all around, solid 4 stars all around. Food was amazing, had Blackened Mahi and Al Pastor tacos and Chicken Floutas. The Floutas were absolutely amazing, the cream cheese and the jelly were both awesome. The Al Pastor tacos were very very good and the sauce was perfect. Had a couple tough pieces of pork that interrupted my enjoyment, but it happens. The Mahi, while I understand is blackened, just tasted a bit on the dryer side. I ALWYS enjoy a good blackened fish, but maybe it was just a one off experience here. I would absolutely go back and even try them again. We had the Prickly Pear Margarita and was kind of disappointed there was no salt, as advertised. Desert was Oreo Fried Ice Cream and it was the perfect desert for the visit, HIGHLY recommended! Service I gave 4 stars because while I wasn't busy at all when we got there (just before 5pm), the wait staff still seemed like they were too busy and we had to ask a few times for just a glass of water. Atmosphere was nice where we sat, but it was in the bar area to the left of the hostess and the baseball game was too loud, and I could care less about what's on TV while I'm trying to eat. Also was distracted by the number of other people had their cellphone lights on because they couldn't see the menus. I didn't think it was that dark, but not every table has its own light, so it was distracting. Overall, I'd absolutely go back and ask to be seated elsewhere and probably love the experience even more! Price with appetizers, drinks, meals, and desserts was VERY reasonable."
