"My family and I have been a 30+ year customer of Harry’s Discount Appliances. I remember the days of going into their tiny store on 18th Avenue in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn that Milton and his son Bobby Wellen owned, (unfortunately Milt passed away a few years ago), so now it’s just Bobby “running the show”. Anytime my family and I needed an appliance, we always went to Harry’s. All you had to do was get them a model number of the appliance that you wanted and they would always beat the price. Not only did they give you the best price, you also got amazing service! After a while I didn’t even check online to see how much the appliances cost, I would just call Harry’s, that’s how good they “were” (notice the word “were”). The Brooklyn store is no longer around so now Bobby runs his business via telephone for the last several years. Unfortunately, the amazing service that Bobby gave me in the past changed in the last couple of weeks, as Bobby scammed me out of $50, (I know it’s not a lot, but it’s still MY money). Last month my washer and dryer both broke within a few days of each other, so of course I called Bobby (I called him on 11/16/23) to order a new washer and dryer. I picked out the ones that I wanted from an online source and gave Bobby the model numbers. I told him that I also needed to have my old units hauled away and the new units installed, in addition to a 3 year extended warranty. He told me no problem and he would get back to me with a price, (while we were talking we were reminiscing about the Brooklyn store and about the old days), and a couple hours later Bobby called me with a price. Quite reliable, right? He gave me a total price of $1370 which included the washer, dryer, sales tax, installation and haul away, and the extended warranty which was $140. I thought the price for all that was excellent so I ordered it. I Zelled him the money so I could have my washer and dryer the next day on 11/17/23. The next day, the washer and dryer were delivered and installed. Ok, here is where my problem begins. After they delivered the units, I called Bobby to ask him how to get the paperwork for my extended warranty. He told me to call up Appliance Connection and give them my reference number and then I will get my warranty info. I thanked him and called Appliance Connection. I spoke to someone there about my warranty and gave her the reference number. There was no record of it or of Harry’s Discount Appliances, so in essence, Bobby never gave me the warranty that I ordered and paid for!! I called Bobby and I told him what happened and he said that it was his mistake and he will call them and rectify the situation. Since it was a Friday, I decided to call him back on Monday. I called him on Mon. and he blatantly lied to me and told me that he forgot to call up Appliance Connection about the warranty, and promised me not to worry. This is not true, he never ordered my warranty even after calling him several times. And this is where he really lies to me telling me that he can’t afford to give the warranty!!! UGH, EXCUSE ME BOBBY, I PAID YOU FOR THAT WARRANTY!!! I gave YOU the money! He kept telling me how he can’t afford it and how he didn’t know where his next meal was coming from giving me a total Bullsh*t story. I waited several days after the Thanksgiving weekend until Dec 1 when I had my husband call him up and, of course he gave my husband the same Bullsh*t story! My husband told Bobby that by December 8 we wanted the $140 refunded to our bank account by Zelle. Today is December 11 and Bobby only refunded $90 to us. He still owes me $50 which isn’t a lot but it’s MY MONEY!! Bobby, you stole my money! I paid you in good faith and if you can’t afford to run a business that isn’t my problem, then YOU should go out of business!!! You stole my money!! Your father Milt, would be turning over in his grave, if he knew how you were treating your customers, especially 30+ year good customers!! Shame on YOU, Bobby!!!"
"Bobby stole my money. I sent him $690 for him to deliver a stove as security because a check I mailed to him for the same amount had not yet delivered to him and I needed the stove the next day. I sent him the $690 and he received the check the next day with the same amount and have taken both funds and have not returned the $690 I zelled him. Every time I call him to get an answer he never replies or has an excuse. It has been a month since I sent this money to him and have not received it back. I am a 24 year old college student with her own apartment and have been behind due to me waiting for this money. It sucks to trust people who are not trustworthy and have no business or professional integrity. No consideration or human decency."
"By far the best prices you'll find. There's no showroom. Just find the make/model# and call for a quote. They'll usually call back the same day. I've bought virtually all my large appliances from Harry's over the past 20 years. Never had a problem. Delivery is by PC Richards."
"Dear Bobby, as you recall I purchased a refrigerator from you and sent you the $149 for the 5 year warranty. When I contacted the insurance company for coverage they said that you had kept the money and did not send it to them. When I asked you to pay for the $402.60 repair you said that you would. However, you still haven't sent me the money. Would you kindly sent it to me, please? I have given you my address any number of time on your voicemail. Thanks very much, John Bauman."
"I have bought three products from Harry's and I couldn't be more satisfied. When I went to Best Buy they had a stove on sale that turned out to be an older model no longer being manufactured. Harry's sold me a better, newer model at a cheaper price than Best Buy. When my air conditioner gave out after 23 years (also bought from Harry's), I called them this past sweltering July 5th. They delivered another model the next day. Bob even suggested I save $500 by buying a model cheaper saying that the one he had in mind would take only an extra couple of minutes to cool. It kicks out cool just fine, and I saved myself some extra money! (Who does that)? Call Harry's for your appliances, but call this place "Even Better than Best Buy.""
