Reviews of Lex Restaurant
"Definitely not recommending this place. The waiter was very pushy in upselling the food. Food was okay but not to come back for. It was lacking freshness and vibrance. Prices are too high for what is presented. The restroom was not clean, no towel(s) and very smelly. We had to take our own coats when we were leaving. The television(!!!!) at the bar was an annoying distraction. The courtesy to say goodbye from staff was not there. We went here because of the positive reviews. But this place has had its best days long ago…"
"I’ve visited this restaurant a couple times with my partner. Every single time I left with no regrets. The atmosphere is amazing. Dark but enough light, spacious, and that fancy feeling you’ll love. I’ve had different waiters most of the time but they all were great! Always attentive, checked up on us, and fixed any problems we had. The food was AMAZING. It’s amazing quality and will fill you up. If you’re looking for a calm date night with quality food and amazing atmosphere, this is the place!"
"Upper East Side Sanctuary. Small and very clean place. Service is very professional and supportive. Quiet and pleasant atmosphere. The food is really good. Strongly recommend. You might need to make a reservation for dinner if you want to secure your spot. Their menu selection is very impressive."
"A traditional Italian restaurant with excellent service and good food. We sat at the outdoor heated seating, which was very comfortable but have also previously dined indoors. The indoor decor is very cozy. The seafood risotto was excellent, and the veal piccata was tender and well marinated. We ordered the special dessert for the day (apple crumble pie with ice cream) and the warm chocolate brownie with ice cream. Both desserts were super yummy."
"I'm going to be picky with a 4-star rating because an average of 4.6 is too high. To me, the most important aspect of a restaurant is its food. We have wonderful service at this restaurant. My water was refilled multiple times, even though I did not request for it. Other reviews give shoutouts to the ponytail dude, but I think everyone I interacted with here gets an A+. The food is not bad either, but the sentiment other reviewers have about it being on the pricier end I completely agree with. You pay largely for the service and atmosphere at the end of the day. So, the restaurant is a mix between casual and fancy. Not uptight, but if you go in they ask if you have a reservation. There are pretty flowers on all the indoor tables and outdoors seating also has its visual appeal. And in that case... why is a menu item that's advertised as a sandwich actually a burger? The buns were above average. The fish was fresh-tasting, but that's really the extent of it. As a restaurant that wants to be perceived as Italian, I could be convinced that the meal I was eating were more fancy if the cheese were a slice that didn't look like it was processed. Salad, if it's going to look and taste like it came straight out of a grocery store bag is a completely skippable side. French fries, if they are completely average french fries... don't need to be on the menu. A menu should aim to have excellent items. I think Lex Restaurant tries too hard to have a bit of everything so that if you don't ask for what's the best, you may easily end up expecting better. I liked the brownie and its temperature contrast with the ice cream. I do deeply appreciate the fact that the food was prepared for us. Not only does the restaurant have a good atmosphere and service to justify $20+ per person for lunch (it was $40 per person because we had dessert), but making the specific items for us fresh is a part of the cost too. The chefs come in and don't know that they'll specifically be making the burgers, whereas fast food they make the same few items every day and charge about 0.6-0.75x the price. Tangent aside. It is really then the dessert that made the experience less wallet-friendly for a casual dine & chat. Like the egregious/blatant slice of American in the sandwich, it was sad to see that there was no chocolate swirl on the plate that was shown in the other reviews. Lacked the feel that the food was special. Food-wise, if Lex Restaurant focused more on its stronger dishes, tried focusing on its best meals with best presentation, I don't think people would ever complain about the price. There's a lot going in favor of the restaurant."
