Reviews of LaVista Pizza (2nd Avenue)
"Had 4 slices of pizza for around $20. The pizza was nice and crispy (they add breadcrumbs in the crust to give that extra crisp). Polite staff and quick service for take away. Would recommend the square grandma slice (it looks small but good flavors, the tartiness and juiciness of the tomatoes really shine through)."
"I decided to stop here on my way home. I always get a slice of plain and a slice of Sicilian at pizzerias I've never been to because they tell me everything I need to know about a place's pizza. First, the crust. This is one of the best crusts I have had in manhattan. Not only is it crispy, but it is well seasoned, and that is rare. It has a crumbly texture on the dough, which is rare to find. It feels homemade. The thickness is slightly thicker than your average New York slice but still has the necessary thinness to cook through and crisp on the bottom. Second, the cheese. Move over New York greasy pizza! Often, if a pizza is not greasy, it means it's cheap cheese. In this case, while the cheese is not gooey, it was still quite delicious and seasoned. Seasoned mozzarella is rare to find in New york. And I really appreciate that it wasn't dripping in grease. Lastly, the sauce. The sauce is delicious - what there was of it. It is also clearly seasoned and of good quality. However, it was minimal on both slices. Particularly with the sicilian, it leaves the pizza quite dry. I think this would be easily rectified by doubling the amount of sauce. With this one correction, this pizza would rival some of the best pizza in New York City."
"My visit was around 10:30pm on a Monday I’ve had the chance to try a lot of pizza spots this past month and this one did not disappoint! The pizza was great, I had 5 different slices and each I’ve hit the spot. The fries were also great and I even had a beef patty. As for the pizza; perfect crust, right amount of char, great sauce, great toppings. The staff was great, shout out to Yassur, super friendly made the visit that much greater. Good luck to this place I’ll definitely be stopping in again."
"Stopped by on Wednesday evening around 830p, lots of seating; had a margarita slice, rainbow slice, and a can of Sprite Zero. They're doing a grand opening promotion where it's $6 for 2 cheese slices and a can of soda; or $10 for 2 specialty slices. Pizza was nice and crispy. Cornmeal dusted crust makes it nice and crispy. This would not be your favorite spot if you like pizza to be more pillowy doughy, but definitely will hit the spot if you like it on the thin and crunchy side. The rainbow slice looked pretty but honestly just tasted like a regular marinara and cheese slice- couldn't taste the pesto at all, which is quite a statement since pesto is a strong flavor. The margarita slice was the perfect cheese, sauce, dough ratio. Excellent service. Great addition to the neighborhood."
"Best pizza I’ve ever had… not just in NYC, but overall! I’ve tried pizza from all over NYC, some parts of NJ, and even from Italy. Nothing compares to the taste and crispiness of this slice of pizza. Amazing. I will be back! Great, friendly workers as well. Thank you."
