The Oak House

"After a week of eating out in Manhattan, I decided to stay local and have dinner with my family at Oak House in River Edge, NJ. I was so glad I did! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by the friendly and attentive staff. The Hostess, Olivia and Server Amanda were amazing. After struggling on what to order Olivia and Amanda both gave us their list of favourites which did tick all our boxes and throughout the evening they checked in making sure everything was perfect. We started with the calamari and a salad and for our main courses, we had BBQ ribs, free range roast chicken, steak sandwich, and burger. Everything was cooked to perfection and the flavours were incredible. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and the chicken was juicy and flavorful. The steak sandwich was made with a perfectly cooked ribeye steak and the burger was juicy and delicious. We finished the evening with a decadent chocolate brownie with ice cream. Overall, our experience at Oak House was outstanding. The food was delicious, the service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting, big thanks again Olivia and Amanda you created the perfect end to my whirlwind NY/NJ trip. I highly recommend Oak House to anyone looking for a great dining experience."

"Stopped here for our yearly tradition. We used to go when it was the Charlie Browns. As we drove by today we noticed the new name so we decided to give it a try and we were not disappointed. Our waitress was very attentive. The inside is very nicely done with a rustic/modern look. Food and drinks were very good! Drinks were well worth it- first place I’ve been in a while I didn’t feel like I was paying for the mixer in my drink. The breakfast potatoes were done perfectly!"

"Newly opened restaurant, replacing a previously closed down one at this same location. Oak house has few other locations. We were able to reserve a table few minutes before the restaurant opening hours on Saturday afternoon. Plenty of parking right next to the restaurant. The restaurant has beautiful exterior and equally nice interior. Wonderful ambiance, huge spacious bar and well designed dining area. The menu is well curated, not over blown with too many items. We tried the mussels, that came with bread, excellent dish served in juicy tomato soup like broth. For entree we had brozino and spicy shrimp risotto. Both were fantastic. Branzino had vegetables and crab meat, a well balanced dish. Risotto was creamy, with whole shrimp on top, and chunks of it mixed in the risotto. It wasn’t overly spicy, but had enough kick. We ordered few drinks, that were well made. We ended up ordering them again. Servers and stuff were very nice. Overall we had a great dinner and really happy to have this new restaurant near our home."

"Excited to try this spot, a bonus being it is walkable from home. Food and drinks were all delicious. Our bartender was friendly and attentive. Little bit on the pricey side with drinks being $16. Also make sure to make a reservation as they are still very busy (they were booked on a Tuesday). I like sitting at the bar, so I was able to easily get a seat there. Happy to have a great new spot in the area and eager to return."
