Reviews of Dutch's Restaurant
"We went to Dutch's as a group of 4 before the Air Supply show at NJ PAC. Chose this place because it is very close to NJ PAC (5 min walk). We made a reservation in advance for 5pm & arrived on time. We were quickly seated, ordered drinks, received the drinks fairly promptly, then ordered our meals. So far so good. Unfortunately that is where the positives end. We drank our drinks and sat there for well over an hour with no further service of any kind. Our drinks were empty with nobody coming over to ask for another round, no update on our food order...nothing. Finally, at about 6:15 we were able to flag someone down....only to find out there was some kind of confusion on our order. Once we asked...then 2 of the 4 dinners arrived...but not the other two. When we asked yet again about 10 minutes later...the 3rd order was retrieved.....but nobody seemed to know what happened to the 4th dinner. By this time (already 6:30) we needed to leave to go to the show so we just asked for the check and then left after paying. We ended up only getting 3 of the meals (at different times) but 1 person did not get their dinner...and we only had the one round of drinks. No explanation from anyone as to what happened, no apology of any kind, no discount on the check...nothing. The waiter for our table never once even came back to the table to check on us, update us on the order, explain what happened...nothing. The only way to communicate with anyone was for me to walk up to the waiter counter to try to talk to someone. when I did that, our waiter wouldn't even respond to me when I asked what was going on....he actually just walked away from me without even acknowledging me. I have no idea what happened here....but I have never seen such horrible service in a restaurant before. The place wasn't even very busy so that wasn't the reason. It is too bad because the food was actually pretty good (for the meals we did receive) and it is close to the Performing Arts Center."
"We were scheduled to attend an event at the Prudential and were looking for a nice place to dine. Fortunately for us, I came across this restaurant. Both the food and service were excellent. The prices were reasonable, and the bathrooms were clean. I would totally recommend this restaurant. The decor was pretty stylish as well. The only issue I had was actually getting someone on the phone, but it was very easy to reserve a table."
"Father’s Day lunch my son in law pick the place. We got inside no one was there to greet us the only staff was behind the bar on her phone another guest had to get her attention this was unacceptable but didn’t want to mess up the day. We were told to sit anywhere we ordered the food was good but the drinks not so good. They charge 20% service charge which was $68 like what smh. Definitely a no for me."
"My wife and I stayed at the Tryp Hotel and went in for a bite. The name caught my eye, and I thought of Dutch Shultz(1920’s Gangster). I was shocked when I saw a wall of pictures of Dutch on the back wall. He was a Gangster during Prohibition Era in New York. I had to look into the irony behind this place having his name and found out that he was assasinated on the same block in the 1930’s. Weird. The food was very good, and had a caribbean feel to it. The drinks were strong and very good."
"Last night we hosted a surprise birthday party for my uncle, and they allowed us to book 2 large tables (for 18 guests) and bring a saxophonist to play in the restaurant. The staff was incredible! Attentive, friendly and super accommodating. Especially Felix! The venue was clean and gorgeous, the ambiance is swanky and upscale , which we loved. The food was very tasty! ; we tried the fried calamari, the wings, garden salad, the skirt steak, the curry shrimp and the smoked salmon pasta. All of which was mouthwatering, steaming hot and delicious. Lastly, the drinks were strong but good. Overall, my family and I had a great time and we recommend others to enjoy this spot too!"
