Reviews of McLoone's Boathouse
"The short version : Service was Fast attentive, very warm, and friendly, and NOT intrusive at all when we were eating, as a lot of restaurants tend to do. The food was delicious. The restaurant itself was very clean and the bathroom was spotless. And Completely minor issues were taken care of by their offering, not by my request . The long version: My mom and I came here to celebrate my birthday. The waitress, Candace, suggested a drink, which Unfortunately, I didn’t care for, But I was going to drink it anyway . She Insisted in exchanging it for a different one with sincere apologies… Yet I was the one who felt bad because I didn’t like the drink! The manager, Deanna Came to our table personally to apologize again. Then we had dinner. I had the crab stuffed grouper, and my mother had the pear salad With chicken. Mine was amazing, And although my mother loved the salad she mentioned That it only had a few pears in it. The manager, Deanna, Came by a second time and asked us how the food was. She prompted my mother to tell her the truth… That she was a little disappointed, because there weren’t enough pears. Deanna immediately went and got her a dish of pears to add to her salad. My mother was thrilled, and we both enjoyed our dinners thoroughly. At the end of the meal we decided to indulge in a chocolate lava cake (Even though we had a birthday cake, waiting at home for me) BECAUSE The service was so wonderful. Again, absolutely delicious! When we got the check, we were told that the dessert was on the house! I honestly don’t know why this place only got three points something stars. I haven’t eaten here in a while, But every time I have come in the Service has always been excellent and the food has always been delicious. But tonight the staff and Service just went above and beyond. I could not have asked for a better birthday dinner!!"
"I'm a wedding photographer and I photographed a wedding here in November. The ceremony was held behind the restaurant and the cocktail hour and reception were held in a tent enclosed room on the side of the building. There's a pathway in the back that goes around a lake and there's quite a few woodsy hiking spots in the surrounding area. It's great for photos! Very scenic. Food was great too!"
"Perhaps it was just a bad night. We had a fairly big group of 10, and they pushed 2 round tables together. One was taller than the other, but we made it work. The wait staff were attentive and very apologetic, which portends the real problem of the evening. Unfortunately, the food service was abysmal. Over an hour to receive our table's food. Bar service only took 30 minutes, though there was plenty of water delivered at regular intervals followed by apologies for the bar and kitchen. Food eventually came, not all at once, and not all, but most of it eventually came. At best, the food was okay. The short ribs were fine but not special. The scallops were a bit over salted for being served in a miso sauce and were seared only on one side but were otherwise okay. The cheeseburger received decent marks, as did the pork chop. The Cacio e Pepe lacked much cacio and was served over fettuccine with no explanation for the substitution. The bread and dipping oil is lovely. The crab cake appetizer was enjoyed. For the delays, 1 tea, 2 coffees, and 2 cappuccinos were comped. To be fair, it was a Friday, Turtle Back Zoo's Holiday Lights were happening, and it was busy, including a catered event. However, the holiday season and the zoo are not new, and neither is McCloon's."
"Holy Cow. The location is so good that they just don't care. I have never seen a restaurant where no one knows whats going on. When we first arrived, they told us that we would wait 45 mins for a table but we could go outside on the deck and have drinks and they would tell us when our table was ready. On the patio, you can see weeds growing out of the gutters. We were never notified that a table was ready because they thought we had already been seated. No idea why they thought that. Three times random wait staff came to our table asking if we ordered the dishes they had with them. Nope, Nope and Nope. Idk how hard it is to associate an order with table. It became comical as our table and others found this quite amusing by the the third time. I got some drinks at the bar, the receipt copy I have says very clearly 20.49. They charged 27.49. Never again. It could be a comedy show and I will come back to the theme. The locations is so good they just don't care"
"Very glad I decided to have my birthday dinner here!!! From the moment we walked in, the front of house staff was incredibly welcoming and kind. We were sat immediately and our server was very attentive and pleasant. I must point out the variety of options throughout the menu. Tons of different flavors so there is something for everyone. The drinks were delicious. I had two spicy margaritas and a glass of pinot noir out of California. The other drinks ordered from my table were Long Island Iced Tea, Rum bucket, and California Chardonnay. Each drink was a winner. There was live music which is always a plus for me when it comes to dinner entertainment. For dessert, I had the coconut cake which the staff was so sweet to put a candle in which I absolutely appreciated. The cake was moist and full of flavor. A coconut dream!!! Absolutely coming back again!!!"
