Reviews of Jojo's Pizza
"I love stopping here on the way home from school. The pizza is delicious. If you appreciate a good crispy crust, this is the place to go. Friendly workers and great pizza. Simple as that"
"AS THE NEW KID on the block with nearby Falls pizzeria competition of varied styles - Mainline (solid, basic), Sun-Ray (square, cafeteria-style) and Aquila (craft, brick-oven) it'll be interesting to see how Jojo's squares up with them over time with their Grandma-style pies. Let's touch on preliminaries: parking is street-only so it can be tricky getting a spot, might have to go around the block. The restaurant space, while not huge, is big enough to fit 5 or 6 tables, so yes you can eat there but atmosphere is bring your own. There was a family of four present with a half-eaten box of dunkin donuts on their table and it looked like they were all just hanging out waiting for the place to close to give a ride to someone. Or maybe these were the delivery drivers? Not a big deal. It's a clean and efficient setup. There was a sign in the window "Counter Assistance Needed" but when I went in to pickup my order there seemed to be plenty of employees bustling around. Maybe they got slammed this Sat night but they seemed a little frazzled. It's easy for me to pickup on the energy of a place and many pizzerias feel this way. That's a good sign - they're busy. Upon entry I was greeted by at least 2 workers which was nice. Most places don't even look up at you from the counter bc they are, in-fact, too busy. The associate who pulled up my receipt and ran my card had some trouble with the computer, so the actual dough-maker, covered in flour and all (maybe this was JoJo?) had to come over and help her re-enter the order so it would process. He didn't seem overjoyed. I had to wait an extra minute or so but this was a minor glitch. Onto food. I went with a meatball sub and the JoJo pie which is loaded with roni cups and bathing in it's own oil. Although at first skeptical, the hot honey is a nice touch I have to admit. There was some Stracciatella cheese on this one, as advertised - but just not enough. Be prepared to pat the whole thing down with a paper towel when you get home to save your arteries, or enjoy it just as it gloriously is, or do like me and reheat it with some mushrooms to help soak up all that delicious fat. I was expecting jalapenos on my pie, which it did not have - that would have been their 'Zia' pie, so I made a mistake. Made up for it by adding some snippets of red habanero along with the mushrooms on my Breville reheat. 400/convection/15 mins. Overall the pie was good but the pepperoni - for me- is overwhelming - they put a whole stick on it. I'm sure if you ask them to go lighter, they would. It was difficult to get a proper sense of the bare-bones pie they make when it's buried under all that meat. This is not a light pie at all - it's a belly bomb, a bit oily and very salty. They do have plenty of other options though and next time I'll probably just pickup a boring plain round or Grandma to get the real scoop. Oh I almost forgot - the meatball parm. It's nudged in a fresh, seeded Italian hoagie and I easily ate one half at room temp - fine with me. Meatballs are big and beefy, nicely seasoned -not bland at all - delicious. Good amount of mutz, maybe could have used a little extra sauce but overall v. impressive and filling. One sub feeds two easily, or eat it by yourself and go into a coma. That wraps up my thoughts. On my way back home, with the scintillating aromas wafting from my back seat, I had to make a U-turn and wait at the light next to JoJo's. Two older couples quaintly made their way across the street, passing in front of my car, taking their time. They looked about my parents age, early 70's. I noticed one of the men was carrying a wine bottle in a sleeve. Could it be a Merlot? A Malbec, perhaps? I figured out they were heading to the pizzeria. I thought that was cool that these folks don't need a big fancy place to enjoy themselves and also it was a good sign for the business."
"Just ordered for the first time and it will definitely not be the last!! Excellent pizza with interesting well thought out flovorful combinations. Blows the other local places away! The cheese garlic knots were right on point. Haven’t gotten to the wings yet but can already tell by the smell they are going to be delicious."
"Really good pizza. We tried the JoJo and it was delicious, a square pie heaped with fresh toppings. It reminded me of Coniglios in Morristown but this was better because the crust was less thick and didn't feel doughy. It had a nice crunch, was a little chewy and just sturdy enough to hold all the toppings. Reheated very well too."
