"Good food, good service. Just thought it was a little pricey compared to other West African options. That being said, you’re probably paying more due to the ambiance and location. So if you consider the full experience it may be a value. If you just want good West African food, there are cheaper options."
"This visit was beyond my first, but was my first time dining. I attended for a birthday & holiday party. It was pretty busy and I decided I wanted to try to order something basic. Lamb chops were suggested to me, however I settled on Samaki bites based on certain dishes that were still available that night. This dish is tasty and amidst the soup-like sauce it had subtle crunchy bites. The service was a little iffy as far as primarily receiving a menu taking an extensive period of time. But I can say my waitress was personable/friendly. Beyond the standard table service, I also was able to get a slice of birthday cake which I presume was catered - but not sure. It was very good chocolate cake; I noticed a peanut butter flavor in the fondant."
"I am never ever ever disappointed by the food at Swahili Village. And I also never ever have an easy time deciding what to order because everything tastes so great! I joined friends/colleagues for a send-off dinner, as one of our colleagues was leaving the job after 10 years. This was the perfect place for a dinner and turn-up!! The drinks are great, the music is always jamming and the service will have you in great spirits. 10/10 would recommend for any occasion."
"The food was great!!!! My husband and I were visiting DC. One of our Uber drivers suggested this place, and I'm so glad he did. I ordered the lamb, which was cooked to perfection, and my husband has the oxtail. No complaints. Our waiter was attentive and checked on us offen. Definitely will be coming back when I'm in the city."
"The location, food, atmosphere is great however, the service is not. It took 29 minutes for the server to take my order. Also the price is on the higher side and 20% tip is automatically added to your bill. No need to leave extra tip."
