Reviews of Better Vision Center
"I was required to go to the office by the SSA. I have night blindness. He did a seemly thorough job in the exam, but then referred me for glasses. I paid $165 5 weeks ago and I still have not received the glasses. After leaving 2 messages and no return phone call I finally spoke to the optician on the 3rd attempt. She could not find my record and told me they didn't have an order for me. Later that day she called back and said they had found it and the glasses would be ready soon. That was. 10 days ago and no phone call."
"This was my first time coming here and they were absolutely wonderful, Pam especially in the office. She was so kind and so full of empathy and helped me thoroughly throughout my appointment. Thank you!!"
"I wish I could give the Doctor 0 stars & staff 10 bc their excellence shouldn't be negated by his lack of humanness. However, that's not how this works. My encounter with the Doctor was very triggering & something I've never experienced before. To have a dr tell me , instead of fixing the lense so I'm able to see, to guess the letters as if my intuition will provide a better result, then his skill at listening & shifting to provide a correct prescription, is ridiculous. I don't know if this man had a bad day or if he has too much pride to be wrong. Ego just lost a customer. I left his chair upset, unheard & with the wrong perscription. Thankfully the staff made it right . If only they could give my exam..."
"Almost a full year where we literally walked out of an appointment in the middle of an appointment. My son is 5 in kindergarten and knew how to read his letters and write he knew at 4. I want to make sure I do not put anything negative about the establishment it’s self because my son loved the woman that helped him get fitted for his glasses s/o to you, you were so patient with him the ladies at the front desk were so patient and helpful as well but to shed light on one dr and if this reaches him do better and if you read this and found yourself being the dr that had to do a double take to make sure it wasn’t you then you are also the problem. I had two encounters with this dr that was examining my son each time was a day I wish hadn’t. The first time he was very rude and impatient with my son to the point when I got in the car by the end I was crying because I felt so frustrated I allowed him to talk to him any kinds of way to the point where my son was frustrated and I was frustrated my son cried when it came down to getting his glasses fitted because by then he had shut down. The dr was making negative comments about how he was too much or a handful and how he didn’t know how I would manage with another on the way and I laughed it off not standing up for myself or my son I even was frustrated with my own son because the dr made me believe he didn’t know his letters knowing he was just so happy about his appointment he just had so many questions about what the dr was doing and what he was using and why and he asked them too. When it came time to do the exam he was impatient, got loud, got frustrated and even asked if i was sure he knew his alphabet because he couldn’t see the letters so he wasn’t saying them correctly so the second time before we went I sat with my son just make sure he knew the alphabet cause what’s going on he even knows how to write sooooo by this time I’ve had my newborn because the dr wanted to wait 2 weeks so another exam on him and see how the glasses he had did him and I took my fiancé their dad and he did it again, the dr asked me to stop burping my baby that was first so stepped out to finish when I came back in they were having a hard time my son said he couldn’t see the letter still being so impatient with my son his dad just stepped in to instruct but the doctor told him to just let him do this finally his dad saw enough and he told him f him and f that appointment and don’t worry about us ever again and then he wanted to have some hospitality. But DAD SAID WHAT HE SAID THEY CALLED TO TRY TO TALK AND IGNORED and So we made my son an appointment at PEARLE VISION IN NORFOLK his dr now omg she’s so calm and patient she engages with him, he can ask all the questions he wants, I promise the way I’m describing her is exactly what you will see and feel if you’d meet her he handles her the same way she handles him gently, with patience he was able to express himself to her when it came to the exam they were really in there talking and getting my baby eyes right and he was taking her instructions and he was letting her know if something was blurring etc she made him feel safe and she made him feel heard he didn’t even have to speak loud with her the room was dim/dark the whole time they vibed and he loves his glasses he never wants to take them off because he can see he will even want to swim with them lol I say all of that not to bash but to say stand up for yourself and your children which was a lesson learned to me but for this office and to that Dr do not offer that service for children under a certain age if the person examining these babies do not have the patience to do so because it’ll always clash and you have a lesser chance giving these kids the care they need with the closest accuracy."
"The staff is very personable and warm. I enjoy talking with the doctor—he always has interesting conversation and answers any questions about your care you may have in a way you can understand. They have a good selection of frames and accessories."
