Reviews of Eye & Vision Care of Haymarket
"I don’t think the doctor and staff here understand how exceptional they are. I have vision issues and get the best treatment. Dr. Frederick listens and makes sure I have what I need. She specializes in the my eye condition and I trust her. Bobby has made sure I have lens that provide the best vision. I’m glad to have them taking care of me."
"Dr. Frederick is an incredible doctor and very patient. I love that she shares in the excitement of wins, no matter how big they are! We will continue to travel 1 and a half hours to see her for the entire family! The fact that she has been able to give my son and husband sight in less than a year, when no one else could sings to my heart."
"I will be finding a new optometrist office for my next annual exam. I asked to opt out of the retinal imaging that is "required" for every patient. I have never been required to do this test in the past and in all honesty as a RN myself I know that patients have the right to opt out of any testing that they do not wish to do. When I asked to speak to the Doctor about this she told me it was an office policy and there is nothing she can do about it. I asked if she had a research article or something that says every patient needs to have this test done every single year, she said there is no research that says this. I had no choice but to proceed with the exam because I was out of contact lenses and needed lenses, but I will be going somewhere else next time. Forcing a patient to pay $30 ( not sure about the cost it was $30 or$40) is absurd. I understand if they want to strongly urge you to do the test and have you sign something that says you opt out if you don't want it, but this is not the case here. This is a money making scheme for this office and is a policy that needs to be re written. Edit: in response to the owner's response- I was seen this year (2023) under my married name. This is very accurate information. I was never explained at the time of making my exam that I would be required to do a retinal exam that my insurance company does not cover. They would not let me proceed with my contact lenses exam without doing this extra retinal imaging which I had just done the prior year."
"My husband and I both like Dr. Frederick. She has been very thorough and will take the time to fully answer questions. She can be hard to understand at times, especially when wearing a mask, but she does not mind repeating or clarifying things. I also appreciate her emphasis on preventive measures for eye health. She really loves kids and has invited my children to follow us into other rooms and provided coloring pages, lollipops, and stickers to keep them occupied on several occasions. I took one star away because I do not appreciate the way the guy doing the orders and taking measurements (I think they called him Bobby?) treats people. He was nice and helpful in choosing frames and giving honest feedback on how they looked on you, but when I had questions and concerns about my new lenses he went into a condescending lecture mode. He dismissed my concerns and told me what I was experiencing with these lenses was impossible and all in my head. Said I just needed two weeks to get used to them. He accused me of making things up, not understanding how the lenses were supposed to work, letting the internet confuse me, and having a bad attitude about my new glasses that was making me upset and imagine I was having problems with them. None of that was true and I was incredibly peeved with his behavior, but I quickly realized there was zero point in arguing with him. I let him think he had calmed my concerns and just left because I had a follow up appointment with the doctor in two days anyway. At the follow up appointment Dr. Frederick confirmed that I was 100% correct in what I was experiencing. And she also confirmed that "getting used to them" would not solve the whole problem I was having and we decided I did indeed need a second prescription. So I told her I have no idea why Bobby was so quick and forceful in trying to convince me I was crazy. The doctor helped me determine a better plan for how and when I would use different types of lenses to fit my lifestyle and concerns. I left very happy. My advice is to ask only the doctors lots of questions and clearly explain everything you are experiencing. Don't let that guy at the front bother you. If you have a concern just go straight to the doctor."
"The doctor and staff are amazing! The doctor was very patient and thorough with both my son and I. She found concerns that were never brought to our attention before and did further testing to ensure everything was fine. Every visit is thorough, she shows us everything and explains everything. We never feel rushed or that we’re just another client to quickly move through the appt! The staff was so patient and helpful as well, when teaching my son how to use contacts and helping him pick out glasses. I highly recommend this facility!"
