Reviews of Canterbury Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center
"My loved one was under the care of the staff at Canterbury Rehabilitation and Healthcare a few months and all I can say is that the care was A+. The social services department was outstanding. We enjoyed the beautiful building and therapy gym. I felt comfortable with speaking to the staff and the communication was great. Thank you to Nina, Rehab, and all the activities staff. The service was great from admissions through discharge."
"my experience here has been good. the rehab has been great. It has helped me a lot. The food is good and edible. The Staff are nice but I feel like they rush out a lot. They could use a little more Staff."
"In June 2023 I checked my brother into Canterbury Rehab. He had Medicaid benefits, but until they verified Medicaid, in order for him to be admitted, I paid for five days in advance with a Chase credit card in the amount of $1375. After a few days, they confirmed his Medicaid coverage. Thereafter, I waited patiently for a refund. Rather than crediting the credit card like most businesses, they eventually sent a check. Shortly thereafter, I received a call from their accounting office in New Jersey asking for a refund of the check. I told him it still remained as an outstanding charge against the credit card and that I wasn’t going to refund the money. After my complaint fell on deaf ears, I called Chase and they indicated that as soon as the charge was approved, the money was sent electronically to Canterbury’s bank. I suggested to the Canterbury accounting people that they call their bank and find out why the bank is not crediting your account. To my knowledge they never did! I made several calls to New Jersey but only received a recording. I went to the Canterbury facility four times personally to try to straighten the matter out. Finally, the New Jersey office left a message that they were going to turn the account over to collection. Which they did and I received dunning letters. After pointing out that in my opinion, that was possibly Medicaid fraud, that is, being paid by the individual as well as collecting from Medicaid, I still received no feedback. Finally, after four months I received an email from Canterbury in which they informed me that there had been a mistake and it was not my brother’s account at all that was in question, but it was someone else who had not paid! I’ve never experienced such incompetence, lack of consideration, or cooperation in resolving a matter! PS My complaint is not reflective of the care and attention he received from the staff."
"My visit has been very pleasant. The staff is awesome. Everyone I have interacted with has shown me that they genuinely care. The cleanliness overall was good. I was nervous about the food before coming but the food was hot and served in a timely manner. A lot of variety! The meatloaf was very good. The doctor was on point. Even though it was a short stay it was a good stay. I would recommend others to come here."
"I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for the care my loved one receives at the Canterbury Nursing Home. In a time when nursing homes are facing severe staffing shortages, it's truly heartwarming to witness individual staff members who display genuine concern and compassion for the residents. Unexpected crises can and do happen, and for many of the patients here, their families are unable to provide the intense care they need. In these moments, the Canterbury staff becomes an extended family, stepping in to provide support and comfort - often leaving their own cares at home. I have had the pleasure of dealing with the Canterbury director, who has been accessible 24/7, and she has consistently responded promptly to resolve any issues that have arisen. She also makes it a point to pass on commendations to those exceptional individuals who go above and beyond in handling various situations. From the welcoming faces at the front desk to the dedicated teams in social services, activities, dietary, business, housekeeping, rehab, and the medical/nursing/health care staff, there is someone ready to step up at a moment's notice. While space and time prevent me from listing the names of each remarkable individual, I want to extend my sincere thanks to the entire Canterbury extended family. To those who make Canterbury Nursing Home a place of warmth, support and care, (you know who you are). I say, "Thank you. You are truly appreciated.""
