Reviews of Savage Neck Dunes State Natural Area Preserve Parking Lot
"It's a Mile walk to the water. It's beautiful. It's the bay. I recommend it for families with children because it's very shallow beach; even way out."
"Lovely place for a short walk followed by a swim at the beach. With only 8 car parking spaces, it was quiet both times we visited. With so few people around the swimming area feels very private. Water is warm in July and the shelving is gentle, but not too gentle!"
"Honestly i could go on forever about this spot. So I'm just leave it at this. Just a one of a kind spot. You'll never see another like it. Small hike in about .5 .6 miles half of that is on very soft and dry white sands. Take water. And maybe a single trash bag to to help pick up trash that other pos people have left or has floated in one bag at time can still make a difference even if only to keep it beautiful"
"As others have mentioned, the beach is very small-but what you don’t hear is that is at high tide. Go at low tide for a broader longer beach to enjoy with your family and pups. Limited parking so avoid weekends if possible. We went on a Tuesday and there were 3 or 4 other cars and we had the beach to ourselves. The dunes are neat and the sand is fine and deep (even on the last bit of trail). Signage to stay off the dunes and on the trail is clear. We hit the woodlands trail on the way back and saw a deer, turtle and really big old trees. No facilities but unless you’re lounging on the beach, this is a quick stop."
"Great little park to do a quick hike. We stopped by on our way from Cape Charles to Chicoteague. It was a few mins off the main road but worth it. Cool little hike through different biomes. The beach was pretty awesome and nice views. If i lived in the area i would visit it regularly."
