"This is a fantastic park for naturalist offering several wildlife opportunities, especially birding. For birders, this park offers a diverse population of sparrows, raptors, and migrating warblers. Each trail system is unique and provides a different experience. Weekdays are quiet but the weekends can get crowded especially with equestrians. The park offers several great events for families and is a great dark park for the stargazers."
"Such a great State Park and campground!! The bathrooms/ showers and laundry facilities we sooo clean. Plenty of space and privacy between sites. Lots of trees!! The sites are level-ish gravel pads. We only had water and electric on our site. The laundry was cheap $1.50/load. There are plenty of hiking trails! The surrounding fields were really pretty. I only interacted with one staff person and she was really friendly. Overall, the campground is really peaceful. On occasion you might hear distant road noise or a train, but it’s really not noticeable. If we need a site in the area again, We will definitely come back!! We had cell service good enough to do our remote work- 2bars with Verizon and seemingly better with AT&T"
"We absolutely love taking our kids on this float. We put in at Powhatan State Park and float down to Beaumont boat ramp. The first time we went, the water was completely clear and you could see straight to the bottom. We found plenty of places to stop along the way so the kids could explore and throw their lines in the water. The only downfall was having to pay $5 again upon reentry with our 2nd vehicle after the float was over and an additional $3 for our small trailer. All in all, we paid $13 to float, which isn't terrible, and obviously, it's worth it as we have already been back."
"I went to a guided tour at the park. The ranger was wonderful, polite, engaging, and helped me identify several plants and insects that I didn't recognize. I will definitely be visiting in every season to see the changing flora and fauna."
"Nice clean park one of the newer state parks. A few small walking trails for your weekend hiker."
