Reviews of Dragons Tooth Trail Head
"This was an amazing trail.... only 4.6 miles round-trip... but don’t let the distance fool you it’s extremely difficult in places. I would not advise taking small children or dogs on this trail. Parts of the trail can be very treacherous especially when you’re along the Blazes... This trail is a part of the trail system called the Roanoke Triple Crown. I saved this trail for last... The other two travels are completed together in one day (McAffee Kob & Tinker Cliffs)"
"A very challenging 2 mile hike that will test your love of the outdoors. Once at the top you have the choice of going down what you were concerned with going up or continuing down the ridge 6 miles to VA 620. Which was one of the hardest decents I've ever done."
"This is a trail that will run into the Appalachian trail at the 1.4 mile mark, where you can set up camp. It's 2.5 miles to dragon's tooth, with moderate rock climbing until you reach the last 1/4 mile. Then your agility/ability to navigate rock facings with 5-6 inch ledges for footing. There is also some steep areas to navigate. IT IS SO WORTH IT!!! THE VIEWS ARE BREATH TAKING."
"What a beautiful trail. The hikers are friendly and the small rock scramble is worth it. The parking lot can get full but I noticed that people were able to safely park along the main road. Bring your camera and some snacks."
"I would consider this a strenuous hike.. short though! The view at the top is amazing and you will have to use your hands to climb.. well-marked trail great Vista! Give yourself plenty of time to get down from the tooth ridge.. coming down in the dark could be very concerning!"
