"Great trail. It's on the moderate side. There is a short scramble at the end of the trail. Also on-leash, dog friendly!"
"A great hike to the top of Turk Mountain. Cross the road and follow the Appalachian Trail South for .2 mile. Look for the Blue Blazed trail off to your right. Follow the trail down and then climb Turk Mountain. The rocks on top are a little challenging but very cool!!! If you want to hike a little longer, the Appalachian Trail North climbs and follows the Ridge until it crosses the Skyline Drive 2 miles north."
"Great family hike for novices. About 2.5 mile out and back trail. As everyone else has noted, make sure to take the trail across the road from the parking lot and not the one that actually connects to the lot. Starts off downhill for a short bit before going up. One fork a short ways in where the AT intersects, just stay right for Turk overlook. The last bit of the ascent is rocky, and there is a bit of a nice rock scramble right at the top. Iโm considerably overweight and a novice biker by any definition, but with frequent rests and judicious use of my hiking poles for balance, I was able to make it up without issue. All of our children, including our grade schooler, had no issues at all. Definitely would recommend bringing sufficient water if you are out of shape like me, or have kids with you."
"I love hiking the Turk mountain trail, it's only 1.1 miles from the parking lot to the top of the mountain. That said you should always bring water especially in the summer. You can also bring a lunch or early diner and eat at the top of the mountain. Note it's mostly uphill on the way up and thus downhill the majority of the way back so your accent will be slower then the return journey. Get out now well the fall colors are out."
