Reviews of Bearfence Mountain
"We hiked on Thursday morning and there were not very many other people on the trail. The view is amazing. It's a quick hike from the parking lot, but steep. Follow me @trailenvy for more!"
"This trial was so much fun! If you like rock scrambling, and an insanely beautiful 360 view this is the one for you! Pictures can't do the experience any justice."
"Absolutely amazing views from Bearfence Mountain! Not the easiest climb, but we’ll worth the effort. There is a slightly easier trail if you don’t want to do the entire loop. The only downside with this trail is the super narrow trail most of the way up. Some hikers were very considerate, as I would expect from hikers, but there were so many people that just wanted to push past going in the same direction or opposite direction. Super frustrating! Well worth the trip! Highly recommend!!!"
"This hike has 2 route options. One is moderate the other strenuous. You have the option to go up and down the moderate path but this will cause you to miss a 360 viewpoint. I went up the strenuous path, which requires some climbing. It is only about a mile loop. Beautiful 360 view about .2 miles into the rock climb. That said we saw children beasting this trail (maybe 7yo) as well as a cautious 60+ and 5yo (with parent aid). Somehow we missed the second viewpoint. So look out for signs. This would be difficult in the dark. So if seeking sunrise/sunset come prepared with lights."
"This is a great hike with amazing views. The trail is only one mile total and can be completed in under an hour (not including breaks and time for taking pictures). As a word of warning, half of the loop involves rock scrambling and you should be prepared as well as physically fit enough to do it. For those who cannot, they can go up the way most people come down since it is a loop. I would also recommend that you go up the scrambling part first (go straight at the Appalachian trail junction) because you don’t want to have to scramble down. Also most of the great views are in the scrambling portion of the trail so if you take the alternate route up, you won’t see the views but you’ll see some nice rock formations."
