Reviews of Duncan Knob
"Worth the hike. Take Gap Creek trail (blue blaze) to Duncan trail (white blaze). Both are easy to miss. Definitely a moderate trail then the rock scramble is on the strenuous side. My dog (pittie) made it up the scramble with out much issue. My kids (8&11) also went up & enjoyed it. Stunning view"
"Definitely worth the hike up to the top. The rock scramble can be a little tough going up and down, but if you are careful, it is worth it! I camped at the trail at the bottom, and it was a good place to stay."
"Amazing place to hike, walk, or camp. Freshwater stream along the path to refill your bottles (I used a filter in case of bacteria). Trails are well taken care of. Views at the top are breathtaking. About a dozen places to pitch tents or picnic during the day. From the road, it's about a 4.7 mile hike to the top (2650 ft). 100% worth it. Can't wait to hike it again."
"Duncan Knob is absolutely underrated. I found to be an absolutely stunning hike with just the right amount of difficulty. I found myself sweaty and breathing a bit as I climbed, with moments telling myself to keep going. The best part is first climbing on the big white rocks. They are epic and feel otherworldly! Once on the top, you’ll never wanna leave. I stayed for almost 2hrs and only left bc the sun was setting. Worth it. I wore my running shoes to do this hike and it was fine. I brought 24oz of water (perfect amount) and some cookies which helped keep my energy up. Also, it’s a lot easier going down than up. I think it took me nearly 35% less time going down. Happy Hiking! ps. The entrance is called Gap Creek trailhead."
"A great hike! Took us about an hour and a half to get all the way up, but we were mucking around for a while looking at the camp sites. There are many sites you could set up a tent, including all the way up on the overlook. Lots of fire sites as well. It's a bit of a haul up there, and if its rained at all there will be water running down the trail. Watch the blazes, it's easy to get lost up top, and make sure you come down the right side. We messed that up and had to circle the mountain for a while. But well worth the hike for the view of the Valley!"
