Reviews of Williamsville Wellness
"Good program. However, they don't allow visitation. They stopped during COVID, is what they said. Well, uh, COVID is over. It is helpful for people going through addiction and mental health issues to see their family and friends. I encourage them to learn that family and friends matter to those going through recovery. It's ashame they don't truly understand recovery."
"I had an incredible experience at Williamsville Wellness. Two words come to mind when I think about the staff: love and expertise. The amount and caring and love they show their patients during and even after their stay is unmatched. The expertise brought to the table by the staff is also on another level. The peer counselors have the necessary lived experience and know how to translate that experience to help people come up with the path to recovery thanks to a sustainable long-term plan. The therapists are skilled at running groups and doing individual therapy and help clients do as deep as necessary during their stay. The grounds are amazing, the food is incredible, and I cannot think of a better place or overall experience that you would be able to find anywhere else, when faced with the challenge of having to put your life back together. 8 years later, I still am extremely close with my peer counselor and recently exchanged phone calls and emails with the clinical director."
"I attended Williamsville Wellness 2 years ago. When I attended I was broken and had just came clean to my wife about a gambling problem that I had hidden from her. Monetarily, I lost everything and was expecting to lose my wife, access to my child, my house, and my business. I came in with a very open mind because I finally was at the point where I knew that the fantasy of solving all my problems by one big win was just that a fantasy and not reality. I had tried that for years but there never came a win big enough to solve any of my problems, which brought me back to gambling where eventually I lost all the money I had access to again and had even more problems. I tried to stop on my own many times and always found myself back and every time I went back the losses got bigger and bigger. Why did I keep doing this to myself? Why did I think I could beat the house? My business was successful, I had a great family, but nothing ever felt like it was enough. Now back to Williamsville. I took every assignment seriously. They told me just do what is asked and you can keep your family, the house, and the business. I didn’t believe it at all but hey I had no other options and my wife was not giving me many words of encouragement since I just dropped this bomb on her. Well fast forward 2 years and I have still not gambled. I have my house, my wife and I welcomed our second daughter, and I still have my business. without Williamsville I know it would have taken me many more years to fully understand that I was powerless over gambling. Life is still hard but now I have the tools to deal with it instead of escaping into fantasy and letting all my problems pile up. Anyone who thinks they have a problem and does not know where to turn I highly suggest Williamsville. Be open minded, willing to do stuff you may not see as helpful at first and brutally honest with yourself and the counselors and I know you can stop gambling one day at a time."
"This place changed my life. As of yesterday I am a year clean and I couldn’t be more grateful to the staff of this facility for helping me get my life back. From their individualistic and group approach to therapy as well as the incredible house, nursing, administrative, and therapeutic staff, they know what they’re doing. I had several individual therapy sessions every day along with group and each individual session was tailored to my needs within the specific approach of that physician. This place is in no way practices a “one size fits all” approach to rehabilitation and that’s where I feel the success of this place lies, at least one of the many. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the amenities as well as housing is above all else. The food is amazing also, that can’t be left out. I had the opportunity to meet the owner/founder of the facility during my stay and hearing their story and how much this place and the success of its patients means to them sealed the deal. If you’re serious about your recovery, this place will foster that in spades. They are 100% invested in your success."
"This place is a complete joke! They left me at a medical center to be cleared, by myself, with my luggage. When someone checks into a rehab you don’t drop them off a mile away from a casino, a block away from a bar. They also allowed me to have my phone, along with all addicts in the facility. I was gambling the entire time I was there- with everyone else. They didn’t even discharge me or give me an aftercare plan. I was given a date I’d be discharged and then told I needed to leave a week early. I was dropped off at the airport 6 hours before my flight. I forgot my notebook there, because I was basically thrown out within a hour. I realized it as soon as the nurse pulled an away and and called. They refused to turn around and drop it back off and never mailed it to me. If you want to waste your time and money and the time and money of your loved ones, while still having access to bookies, gambling sites, and no real structure head there. If you want real help to stop gambling but don’t know where to start please don’t go there. I’ve already called 1-800-gambler to report them and I’ll be filing a report with my insurance company to refuse to pay for services there in the future. It’s a straight money grab. Anyone who knows an addict knows they shouldn’t be trusted to be alone to gambler and drink or their cell phone with was how they gambled and communicated with their bookies and enablers. This place should be shut down. If you love someone or yourself please get them real care. Don’t waste your time like I did and other people I know who went did too."
