"Laurie has seen three siblings from the same family for years now. I’ve been told this is unethical, from another professional. My children have been victims of Parental Alienation since 2015. Laurie loves chit-chatting with the narcissist father doing the alienating and clearly not helping my children. Wouldn’t recommend!!!!"
"My husband and I were given custodial rights for a family member through social services. We were recommended to Laurie through our worker and we have been taking our family member to her for almost a year. She has made great strides with her and has given us much advice and resources to work through this process. We have since with the help of many including Laurie, gotten full custody of our family member and she is growing and thriving. Laurie has been very open and honest and continues to keep us updated on sessions and what we can do to continue to grow in this process. Laurie has been wonderful for our family member and our family structure. We highly recommend her to anyone who is seeking these services"
"my family and I absolutely love Laurie! she has all 3 of my children and she is working wonders in them. all 3 have been through so much trauma and with her help we are seeing the light. she is always available to help me make changes to communicate better to them and helping us to be on the same page. I can't say enough about her, if I could I'd give 100000000 stars. we love her and are forever grateful for her expertise."
"My daughter has been seeing Laurie Thomas for therapy for 3+ years now, she has helped my child through very difficult and traumatic situations, as well as simple day to day sibling drama, self esteem issues, anxiety, etc. Here’s just a few reasons why I 10/10 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Shenandoah Creative Counseling for anyone who is seeking therapy for their child. Not only is Laurie amazing with kids, and gives the best advice I have ever been given as a parent; her approach with play therapy is fun and highly effective. Mrs.Thomas has the amazing and unique ability of creating a personal, yet still professional connection with her clients, creating a safe space for my child- who personally described therapy with Mrs.Laurie as “It’s more like talking to a friend, it’s my safe space, I never feel judged and I always feel better after!” After each session my daughter comes out with a huge smile and says “Look what we made today!” with such confidence and is always gleaming and proud! Mrs.Thomas takes the time to really get to know your child, and you. Other therapist we have seen were so black and white, while Laurie is a refreshing rainbow of colors! My daughter would have never felt comfortable opening up with anyone about certain things if it were not for Laurie’s patience and caring nature. I honestly believe she saved my child, and continues to help her to this day. So yeah, with Laurie, your child is not being psychoanalyzed, or feeling like they’re talking to a stranger in a boring and uncomfortable room while they silently take notes. It’s making art projects that build character and self-worth, it’s processing trauma in ways that aren’t more traumatizing, and SO much more. Bottom Line: If you are looking for a “typical therapist” go elsewhere, but if you want the BEST THERAPIST who will connect with and truly cares about your child and their well-being, will be an advocate for them, always keeps his or her best interest in mind, then bring them to see her. Laurie is a genuine person (not just a stranger behind a scheduling desk) who is more than willing to work with YOUR schedule, is completely understanding if you’re running a few minutes behind, or maybe you’re like me and forget about an appointment every now and then, Laurie has never once made me feel bad about it and actually takes the time to tell me that “it’s okay, don’t stress over it, (reminds me to) breathe, life happens” She even sends me the friendliest text reminders, because she cares that much!) You want to know what the best part is? She is human too and has a family, and there have been a few times that she reached out needing to reschedule with us as well, and I have never had an issue with that, because like she says “life happens”. I love her, my daughter loves her, and you and your kid(s) will too!"
"Laurie is 100% amazing. She is very insightful and knowledgeable. She works with our schedules, always takes the time to listen to any concerns we have, and helps us come up with creative and workable solutions to problems. She is absolutely worth the time and money spent, we have been with her over a year now and I highly recommend her. She was recommended by our physician group and I'm so grateful they recommended her."
