"I've now seen him twice for my stage 4 endometriosis. The first time he seemed very concerned and open to discussing my disease and treatment options. He brought up Mirena at that visit and I told him about all of the research if done, peer reviewed studies and patient reviews. He listened and said my concerns were fair and valid, put me on the only birth control pills I haven't tried and told me to touch base. Today I went because I've been dealing with complications for the past week and have been in touch via email. We discussed what's been going on and he started pushing Mirena again. When I tearfully reminded him of the many reasons I feel it's a bad idea, (on top of all of the research, I have NEVER had a good reaction to birth control and am already trying yet another pill that he wanted me to try). He argued that Mirena is great and he has lots of information proving that. When I didn't concede, he told me to double up on the pill I'm taking, which has exacerbated my Endo symptoms significantly. He gave me those instructions and left the room. I'm to follow up with him in two days so we'll see if he is a decent doctor or if he's like the rest. (For anyone wondering, Mirena placement typically costs $1,000-2,000 so doctor's tend to push it but doing just the tiniest bit of research will show you 8/10 patients have horror stories, especially those with endometriosis)"
