Reviews of Deco at CNB Apartments
"Daniel & Anthony are the friendly maintenance guys with top notch customer service in the Deco at CNB from my own interactions. I am so grateful for their professionalism and dedication to servicing my work orders within 24-48 hrs. The maintenance work orders for the amenities areas of the bldg. also seem to get resolved pretty expeditiously. They’re always actively busy in and around the facility getting work done. I love that they are consistently present when I’ve even had random maintenance questions. I value the consistency of being a familiar face and it’s comforting as an older resident. I think I may feel uncomfortable with new Mx workers for every work order. So thanks for being consistent and available for random inquiries."
"I've had the displeasure of living at Deco CNB for the past 4 years. Over this time, the building has changed hands between numerous management companies. There have been no less than 3 building managers so far. Each change has seen a deterioration in management standards with the purpose of eking out monies from tenants. The building has fallen into disrepair in the past 4 years while rent has increased and numerous frivolous fees have been added. Most recently, it was adding a $27.50 credit/debit card processing fee to pay rent on their online portal that only lets you connect a debit or credit card. The hallways and stairwells are dirty. There was feces, hopefully gifted by a canine but I have my doubts, in a stairwell for 3 days. This same stairwell had a tampered with lock multiple times. Yes, the amenities were nice when I initially moved here but have become rather grungy. The same can be said of the apartments where little is done to turn them over between residents. The building itself would be tolerable, even nice to live in, if they didn't charge so much. I've tried to justify living here too long and dream of moving out come the end of my lease. I may find a nice roadside ditch to lay my head in the meantime; there's quite a few available hovels in the neighborhood. Perhaps the aforementioned feces containing stairwell? I implore you, dear reader, be smarter than me and don't live here. Save your money and find one of the many cheaper equivalent apartments in the neighborhood. The one saving grace of the building is the front office staff. They are generally very friendly, kind, and eager to help. A vastly different response than what you receive emailing management. The front office staff, however, seems at times unaware of recent changes to policies and the like. With the rotating cast of faces, I'm suspicious management hires from temp agencies to avoid paying employee benefits."
"The best place to live is Deco at CNB. Apartments are clean, with all utilities, gym, yoga room and the building is fully secured. Those who are students this is the best place to live near both the campus VCU and MCV. I am satisfied and recommend Deco."
"I have lived in this apartment for well over a year now. The location is great and the amenities are okay as well, still a little pricey but i was willing to pay a bit extra for the architecture and location. There were minor problems with the apartment i moved into (cheap flooring which chips and scratches white with basic day to day wear, poorly done repairs, and somebody who smoked cigarettes inside stinking up the floor) but these things were easy enough to get past. My biggest issue came a few months ago: the cockroaches. Approximately 4 months ago i found a cockroach in my bathroom, management had pest control coke and spray the apartment a few weeks later, i threw out my 200$ worth of groceries, purchased air lock containers to store my pantry foods in and began doing an in home preventative treatment of wiping the walls, cabinets and floors with white vinegar 1-2x a week, as well as sprinkling DE behind the appliances and underneath the cabinets; this is all on top of my typical cleaning. i was willing write the first sighting off as a one off until a few weeks ago, when i saw 2 cockroaches just crawling on my neighbors door and the hallway walls in the middle of the night as if they paid rent here. Immediately concerned I reported the issue immediately. And it was odd bc it seemed like management didn’t even read my report as they only suggested spraying my apartment, now each time they spray i have to relocate my cat to a pet hotel which costs 150$, and given the fact that i had only seen them in the hallway and had increased my own preventative measures, I re-explained where i had seen them but told them that if they felt it was necessary they could spray my apartment as well, just to let me know the morning of so i could move my cat in time. they told me it wasn’t necessary. then two days later i found one in my apartment, i deep cleaned the apartment and put down DE (a pet safe pesticide), and thought “oh well maybe it was simply attempting to escape the pesticides outside” then two weeks later, this afternoon, i found one inside my fridge. let’s be clear renting a tiny studio apartment costs 1400 a month. they have been well aware of this problem for a minimum of 3 months. which means they have continued to collect $4,200 from me while the second floor has served as a breeding ground for a cockroach infestation. i’m DONE. i’m beyond DONE. everytime i come home now i think, “where am i going to find a cockroach in my apartment today?” Update: After leaving this review I received an email from the managers, they acknowledged within it that there is an infestation which originated from a now empty apartment. They assured me that they are "taking the issue very seriously". I spoke to somebody in person on Saturday within the office, and was told that my apartment would be sprayed on Wednesday. As well as placing two work orders to help prevent more from entering my home. Saturday evening there was yet ANOTHER cockroach in the hallway by my door, I killed it and put down DE along the hallway's edges by my door to kill and deter and pests that would be walking along that area. Today is Wednesday, and they supposedly came and sprayed, but left no note or indication that they have been here, and what do I find? But yet ANOTHER cockroach in my sink. Oh an a "Misc. Income" charge of $25.00 on my rent statement. If I wasn't so disgusted I would be laughing."
