Reviews of First National Apartments
"I've lived here for two years and absolutely love this building and my neighbors. My apartment is beautiful and the maintenance staff is quick to fix any issues. Downtown living is great too! There are plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance and it's a short 15 minute hike to Brown's Island."
"Overall, I had a great experience living at First National Apartments and would recommend to anyone! The building is clean, safe, has great amenities, and maintenance is quick and reliable! The building is also conveniently located close to lots of bars/restaurants and all of the other amenities that downtown Richmond has to offer. Despite being located on a busy city street, I always felt completely safe here as a young woman living alone. I also loved the history of the building and how unique it is compared to other apartment buildings around! However, a few things to consider: - Parking in the garage is convenient, but is an extra $125 a month. (Pretty standard price for apartments in the area but still pricey) - Elevators are not always reliable, many days there was only 1 working elevator so people were left waiting a long time. - Office staff is not always reachable. I called many times during business hours on weekdays and got no response over the phone. Makes it difficult for people who work away from home during business hours. - I saw lots of reviews about people not getting their security deposit back. I didn’t have this issue, I actually got mine back very quickly. On the day I moved out, I asked the property manager to walk through my unit with me and confirm that there would be no extra charges. I also confirmed that she closed my account out in the system and had my forwarding address. I paid my final utility bill as soon as it was posted (1-2 days after move out). Not sure if that all contributed, but I received my full deposit back within 5 days! - Lots of noise from outside, I could hear my neighbors at times, etc, but that is expected when living an in apartment building. Overall I’d say the walls are pretty thick compared to a typical apartment building. - Floor plans are a bit oddly shaped, likely due to the fact that this building wasn’t originally for apartments. Many floor plans have extremely large, long hallways that take up much of the functional space of the unit. My bedroom did not have windows or a light on the ceiling, so it was a bit of a cave. I think living here is worth it if you can get a good price, but leasing at peak times and paying outrageous prices is not worth it if you're open to living in other neighborhoods where you can get many more amenities for the same price. However, if you really want to live downtown, First National Apartments is definitely the best option."
"These apartments are beautiful. I really like them. The only thing is the one I really liked had a bedroom that has a wall that cuts into the shape of the room which won't allow for me to get my king size bed in there. I will wait to see other floorplans as they become available. Loved the kitchen and other amenities. The history of the building and how they have renovated this building to what it is is absolutely amazing. Definitely interested in moving here."
"I enjoyed living here very much. It’s clean, safe, and the employees are considerate. I have nothing but good things to say about my living experience at the First National Apartments!"
"I love ❤ love living at First National Apartments. I moved from across the river in Manchester. I am very happy that I broke my lease 4 months early to move into the First National building. The management is friendly, professional and very helpful to me and my family. The gym is second to none of the properties where I considered moving. The Community Room is amazing, very well lit, functional and clean. Let's top it off with the coffee/espresso machine that is available 24/7. Let me not forget this - The property manager is VERY QUICK to keep us informed of changes, repairs, and any PSAs to address concerns. Don't move elsewhere before visiting First National!"
