Reviews of South Street Lofts
"They have mice running around the place and they don't do anything to help Brandon the manager does not care ...all he wants to do is get ppl to make money and full Apts awful place to live."
"Management was shady in every aspect, what sales person isnt nice when trying to make a sale! Dont be fooled. Walls between apartments do not connect to exterior wall meaning I could slide notes to my neighbor from my bedroom. Everything the people above us did, we could hear. Including peeing, kicking soccer balls around, everything! And they will take every penny of your deposit after moving out"
"They never answer the calls and are never available when you need them to be. Never responds to work orders when asked and you have to ask multiple times. Not to mention the walls are thin and my neighbor is full on yelling at midnight to the point where cops had to be called multiple times. Just avoid this place, no matter how nice the insides are."
"The office staff was nice enough and easy to deal with but you seriously get what you pay for. The area is not so nice and the walls are thin, you can hear everything. Maintainence is slow, even though the gentleman who does the work is incredibly polite and efficient, he's older and overworked. The gate to the parking lot broke no less than four times in the six months I was there and stayed that way for more than a week at a time. Finally, on moving out I was told my deposit would be mailed to me. After moving entirely across the country and waiting for months being told "it was on its way" and that they had "up to 45 days to return the money", I call again and get told the supposed "cleaning fees" equalling up to the exact amount of the deposit. Out of the blue. On the exact day they were legally obligated to pay up. How convenient for them. Supposed fees included light bulbs for an apartment that, again, I hadn't lived in for months (not that it would have mattered, they're 15' and have to be changed by maintainence anyway) and an empty box left in the living room. It was basically a last middle finger to a departing tenant. Would not recommend."
"I am currently a senior at Virginia State University, majoring in Criminal Justice. Two years ago I decided that I needed to move off campus. I attempted living at the apartments off campus that has a contract with VSU. I recognized only after one semester that was not going to work for me. I began to do my research on apartments in the area. I located fifteen apartments in the Petersburg, Colonial Heights, and Chester area. I narrowed my search down to four loft style apartments and one regular apartment. Once I consider what would be a good fit for me, I made a list of must have amenities. The location, washer and dryer in the unit, electricity, and water was a must for me. My budget was set at 900$ and under for each month. After all of my requisitions this narrowed down my apartment search to one location, South Street Lofts. Fortunately for me I stayed under budget and came to find out that Wi-Fi was included in the rent. My boyfriend and I have been residence for one year and three months. I love the apartment loft style and price so much that I am considering graduate school and employment in this area after I graduate. The first year of staying in this residence my boyfriend and I only stayed at the apartment Monday night through Thursday afternoon due to our job location. We always wonder if the review were accurate in reference to the noise level on weekends. I am writing to inform you all that I have not had any issues with excessive noise levels in the past three months that I have been staying in the apartment fulltime. Management is very professional and only a phone call away if you have any concerns. The maintenance men are professional as well and are quick about getting around to any issues in the unit. The loft and parking is gated in so you must have a security key to get in and out of the gate, also to enter into the main door of the apartments."
