Reviews of Courtyard Lofts at Scott's Addition
"The walls here must have no insulation, and it is most definitely a shared wall with each neighbor. I'm in my 40s and have lived in many apartments throughout my life: never before have I lived in an apartment where I can make out the words of my neighbor's raised voices when they fight. It's not the fighting that prompts this negative review, however, it's the music and movies. My neighbors like to party. I have brought forth 6 separate noise complaints to the leasing office here. Only on the 4th complaint did my neighbors finally take heed at all... and I have since placed two more complaints. I could try involving the police, but the limit for a legal noise complaint is 60 decibels outside the home (which is LOUD!) and they "only" reach 57 decibels according to the app that I downloaded to measure it. Mind you, that means that my living room is booming with music at 57 decibels those evenings... and with 6 complaints in 4 months, that's a pretty regular occurance. I now own noise cancelling headphones and use them on a daily basis because even when they're not partying, they're still louder than the average joe... and I can hear every single bass note that they seem to enjoy so much. I'm tired of having to head to my neighbor's apartment in my pajamas to beg them to let me sleep on a regular basis. I shouldn't have to do that. My leasing company should care about their own rules and enforce them well enough so that I don't have to deal with such incredible volumes during quiet hours so regularly. It's a great location, and 100% not worth it. Spare yourself and find another place that has insulation and will not penalize you so heavily for being a victim... in essence, the costs for me trying to escape this nightmare of a living situation are exorbitant (90 day notice + 2 months worth of rent = 5 months payment and dealing with this for another 3 months at the very least). I am stuck dealing with this until my lease ends, living as a hostage until then. Spare yourself. Find someplace better."
"Nothing about this apartment is “luxury” or “state-of-the-art” as it describes on the website. Apartments aren’t professionally cleaned when your lease starts (at least not cleaned well), amenities are very ‘meh’. The gym is dirty, half-stocked with missing weights and equipment, and with water damage all over the ceiling. The ‘mail room’ is in the lobby where your packages are dropped and you have to dig through everyone’s to find yours. Overall the building isn’t kept well. The walls and windows are thin and you can hear just about everything. The only pros to this apartment is the price, location, and the new leasing staff is pretty friendly and relaxed. The maintenance staff is pretty efficient and quick to respond. I did have a leaking ceiling that was fixed within a couple hours. This is a very much a 3-star apartment complex, however minus one star for charging me an entire month because they “had no record of speaking with me about moving out early”. Do yourself a favor and check out the 4+ new buildings in the area."
"Absolutely awful and cheap construction/remodel. None of the windows open. Everything seems to leak. Numerous tenants have had issues with water damage. The walls in this place are paper thin. You will be able to hear everything your neighbor does and a few of the residents blast loud music till late hours (past 1am). I can not stress enough how poorly these apartments are built. Each apartment feels more like a luxurious jail cell than a home...the whole complex has an "open-air" prison vibe. For nearly the same price you could get a small house here in the city. If overpriced kitschy hipster living is your style then, sure, go live your best exposed-brick-walls life. BUT I would highly recommend you look elsewhere."
"Save yourself from the place. Unless you like to sweat in the summer due to ac never reaching your set temperature. Regardless of outside temperature. It doesn't have to be a super hot day. To freezing your ass of in the winter. Here it is 64 degrees in my apartment only to be told this is a historic property and pretty much this is how it is. I moved here because it had all brand new appliances. It really doesn't matter when the construction is poorly done. 24 hour Mainteance non existing . If you like to camp indoors this is your place. Seriously don't rent or you will be sorry."
"I am incredibly displeased with this apartment complex. It took 3 months to get amenities promised on move in. This included access to a mailbox. Now my roommate and I have single mailbox key split between two residents. The resident portal charges a fee for rent payment, but oh, don't try to mail a check in to avoid it. Mail won't get sent to the leasing office in time to pay your rent. Furthermore, the construction on this complex was done quickly and poorly. Walls are paper thin and the electrical was improperly installed. We had multiple days without power over the summer months. I will most certainly NOT be renewing my lease."
