"I've never lived in a place where the management is so attentive and responsive. Derek personally ensured that my maintenance requests were taken care of in a timely manner. And the maintenance guy Chris really knows his stuff. I've been in Union Market and was gonna move out (other building just too noisy and crowded) until I found Ledger. Glad I stuck around, the area is getting so many great new spots opening up all the time. Seriously a foodie's dream."
"The efficiency and professionalism of the staff at Ledger is commendable. They were proactive in addressing all my concerns, making the transition to living here smooth and hassle-free. The apartments are sleek, spacious, and have a fresh, modern feel."
"I want to first say that the concierge staff are exceptional. They are always kind and helpful. Now the bad...Gables does not own this property and it shows in the way it is managed. The garage gate has been broken more often than not the entire time I've been in this apartment, and my car almost got stolen. I asked them to alert the other residents, but they refused. Later I found out that another tenant's car was actually stolen but they never sent a community-wide message to warn others. The building management does not communicate much about the building, safety issues etc. and any attempts at trying to start a tenant association has been met with fierce resistance from Gables. There has been a crazy amount of turnover of staff, and there has never been any communication from Gables notifying us of the changes. I don't think Gables care about the residents at all, they are just here to make money/ cut cost/ maximize profit and ensure residents don't talk to each other in fear of collective action. The interior was one of the few positive things about the building but that has also changed with the new owner coming in recently. All the common spaces now have tacky and gaudy furniture/ decor which do not match at all. The pictures on the ledger website and here are old from when it used to be beautiful. I had my baby shower in the common space on the rooftop, but I definitely would not have used the space if it looked as it does now. Sad that I can’t host his first birthday here! This building is a little cheaper than the others in the area so maybe we are getting what we pay for but still way too expensive for the service and the amenity we get, especially now with the unsightly common areas."
"I will begin with the good. I absolutely ADORE my unit. The layout and finishes. I love the neighborhood. Now, I will continue on with the bad. Do not, I repeat do not trust the images on google nor the images on the website. There have been recent changes to the lobby and penthouse area that are absolutely HIDEOUS. The building is new and somehow they decided to change the furniture recently. The furniture it looks like a cheap hookah bar or someone went to Marshalls and Home Goods and picked out random pieces of furniture. I have attached photos so you can see. The building USED TO be classy and modern but they hired a "designer" that selected these random pieces of furniture that make the whole building look cheap and feel cheap. It's embarrassing! You might say, that's okay who spends time in those spaces? The issue I have is if someone comes by they have to walk in the lobby and for what we pay- it's absolutely absurd that I should feel embarrassed by my lobby. Also looking at other buildings in the area- it's ridiculous that they're downgrading as a building! You can find lovely lobbys and penthouses at every other Union Market building but The Ledger has actively decided to cheapen themselves and put in a mix match mess of furniture. In addition to the hideous furniture, the building has a small gym. So rather than spend money on new gym equipment, they've decided to hire a fake designer to put in this hideous furniture when they COULD HAVE kept the other furniture and purchased two additional treadmills! The garage gates have been broken or some part of disarray for months. Again, spending money on hideous furniture rather than I don't know fixing a basic safety feature! Like I said- I love my unit! and I used to really think our common spaces were great but now I can say without a doubt- it's hideous and with so much other competition in the area- (for example The Gantry and the new Gables building opening) I don't see why you would select this building over one with common spaces you can actually enjoy."
