Reviews of Meridian at Ballston Commons
"We lived here for a year and planned to stay for longer! We made many friends with the community and through the social events hosted by the property management. I want to give a big shout-out to Will who has been awesome and communicative! Major renovations this year did create noise and a mess, but the property management has been proactive in addressing those issues. And now, the building has such amazing amenities like a pet spa and updated gym. There are also promos and discounts that come with your residency here via the Cobu app. Overall, Meridian has been fantastic to live at. It's a pet-friendly property with a sociable community and kind management. If you need a place to live in Ballston, go for Meridian!"
"My wife and I have really enjoyed living here. The management is quick to respond and respectful of the current residents. As others have noted, it is going through construction but it will be done soon and the finished product looks like it’ll be fantastic. Shout out to one of the Meridian managers named Will, he went out of his way to explain the construction process and how to make the best of it, and we really appreciated it since we work from home quite a bit. They also throw parties for the residents every two months or so in the clubhouse upstairs where they provide food and adult beverages, they’re glorious and we’ve made some new friends at them. I’d recommend checking this place out if you want a metro accessible arlington apartment."
"I moved into The Meridian over the summer when I relocated for work. I'm still happy with my decision to date! The team at The Meridian was very helpful and accommodating throughout the entire process including when I moved in. Also, even though there is construction on the first floor, the staff has tried to make things as convenient as possible for residents. For example, they send regular updates and are always willing to help/ answer questions. I’m happy to call this place home and would recommend it to others."
"I moved to Meridian in 2022 but will be moving out soon in favor of another apartment complex. While my first few months were great, things started to go downhill over the summer. Over Memorial Day, I was out of town and my hot water heater leaked. I was kept up to date by staff and told that they needed to wait until Tuesday to finish the repairs which meant I would not have hot water until then either. I was told I would be able to use the guest suite for a night until the repairs were finished. I thought this was a fair compromise and agreed. I returned on Memorial Day around 6pm and they “misplaced” the keys to the guest unit and were not able to clean it in time for my return. I was taken up to my unit and the carpet was torn up in my bedroom and an industrial fan was running. Again, not to mention there was 0 hot water in my unit. I made an executive decision to stay at a nearby hotel for the night because the conditions were unacceptable for me (and my dog). I asked them to reimburse me the $200 for my inconvenience and I was told tough luck. This would have been a simple gesture of goodwill and would have left me with a better taste in my mouth of apartment management. Instead, it is the situation I think back to about why I have chosen to move out. Over the summer, they began massive renovations to the gym and lobby area. While the building was slightly dated, I was excited about the renovations overall. The gym was supposed to be finished in a 3 month period, ended up opening a month late with punch items still needing to be done. The pet spa never opened (or it wasn’t widely announced it was open). And now the lobby renovations are making deliveries a nightmare. I’ve had packages misdelivered, food delivery drivers get confused, and just general embarrassment from the state of the lobby when I have friends or family over. The front desk staff also spend all of their time in the package room due to their displacement from the lobby, which I can’t imagine is what they’ve signed up for. The new package room is supposed to be fully self-service for residents and delivery drivers, when that is happening has been unannounced. I am very disappointed this is the way my time with Meridian is ending, it really was a great experience up until the summer months. Be aware if you are looking to move to Ballston. The reason I am giving this review 3 stars and not lower is truly for the front desk staff. They are awesome and I will miss them when I leave in just over a month."
"Some other reviews have mentioned this, but I want to emphasize the complete lack of respect by the new management regarding the chaotic disruptions construction has caused for residents. Examples: - In May, we were given less than 2 weeks’ notice that they would close our gym for the summer. We were told to get gym memberships. I asked if they would consider moving a few pieces of equipment up to the clubhouse. I got a sassy response that I should be thankful they are improving the building. They said it would be closed 3 months but ended up being 4. End result: I’m literally still using the same machinery I have used for the past 3 years. -Our lobby is a slow active construction site that we are still expected to use. Demo started in August with no timeline provided – but wouldn’t trust it even if it was. With this daily hazard, I was presented with a 22% rate increase (586$/month than I was paying in jan 2022) if I wanted to renew for another year. They would not negotiate. If you think the construction will end soon….I have lived here for over 3 years and not a month has gone by that I haven’t received notice of construction. The current lobby reno, again with little notice, has made food & package deliveries a nightmare. I have been sending things to friends who live nearby & I am embarrassed to have visitors. My advice to management: ‘We apologize for this inconvenience’ rings hallow when you hear it half a dozen times a week, and when residents have issues, the leasing office could not care less."
