Reviews of Cumberland Gap National Historical Park Visitor Center
"Fantastic place!! The views from the top (The Pinnacle) are phenomenal! We happened to visit on the peak color day for the fall foliage. Stunning views!! If you're on a motorcycle, the ride to the top is not for the faint of heart. Hairpin mountain switchbacks await you. They will require your full attention."
"Very nice exhibits, including some very well-made dioramas that describe the geology, history, and evolution of the Gap. Don't miss the short movies upstairs. I especially enjoyed the one about Daniel Boone. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Pick up an item or two from the gift shop to help the Park in its mission to preserve and promote this great national park."
"Went there to see the views from the Pinnacle overlook at around 9 in the morning. Beautiful views from this overlook, even though mist covered the views for the most part. But the drive up to the overlook was breathtaking with the road covered in mist."
"They have a really nice visitors' center. Clean bathrooms, and a gift shop. There's a nice little museum area with some artifacts and a lot of information about those who traveled through the Gap, the establishment of the park, and the tunnel that now passes through the mountain."
"Nice gift shop and educational area. The day we went there was a demonstration on how pioneers made fabrics for clothes. It was really interesting and held my girls attention. The lady demonstrating was very knowledgeable and nice. The rangers at the desk were very helpful and pleasant. We went to Pinnacle Overlook, a short walk from the parking lot. We also hiked to the historical marker for the Cumberland Gap from a parking lot in Virginia. The walk to the marker is all uphill and takes you past the Iron Furnace."
