Oakland Apartments

"First time to area or looking and don't mind the cons and can tolerate temporary or may need long term my experience. Rent is decent for the area and goes up yearly about 7.2%. Oakland is reasonable but like most places has downsides. Fee to pay rent thru the app, free to pay in the office. Cleanly remodeled units but still using carpet, and some units have college dorm style 90s stove/oven units. They paint the apartments and you'll have to deal with chipped paint all the time and a bugs once in a while. Clean complex overall but messy neighbors leave trash here and there. Not expensive for laundry in laundry rooms. Plenty of parking in the lot and guest can park until certain times during the week but be prepared. Though some park at weird angles and getting in and out your car feels like sausage making. Almost all the cars have damage, people will damage your car and think nothing about it. Good complex for access to buses. There's a county cop car parked sometimes but it's more like a scarecrow in a field, you never see a cop. No cameras in the complex or parking lot and for security reasons like car hit & runs is a problem! Their storage is not worth it unless you have a lot of stuff it reminded me of animal shelter. You can only access certain times and with days with notice. While it has the potential to be more relaxing, hope you don't get a noisy unit. People are loud outside like voices don't carry, in the stairwells, and front porch all times of the day like they don't have common sense. Many families live here due to cost of living so you may experience a day care like atmosphere. The walls aren't sound proof and you may have a neighbor you hear in your living/sitting room. I dealt with noise from a weekly Friday night church service until they moved out. Current neighbor has a toddler that cries more times than I can count. Also, there's noise from the construction on Columbia Pike. Warmer weather the grass cutting and leaf blowing can be a nuisance."

"We loved living here. The grounds were extremely well kept. The management was great. And our neighbors were a joy."

"Don’t move here unless you don’t mind having your access to water turned off REGULARLY and love the sound of jackhammers and construction. They have dug up our parking lot so many times over the years I can’t even keep track of it anymore. This is the second time they’re digging it up after they just repaved it in the last two weeks. The noise is unbearable and you will have to figure out what to do with your car. There’s a major waterline under the parking lot and this is routine. Avoid at all costs!"

"Great apartment, great community, great location! I have been living here for several months and so far everything has been wonderful and I have no complaints. The staff and maintenance are super kind and very helpful. Whenever I put in a maintenance request they are very quick and attentive. There is usually rarely anything wrong, but if there is, they try to solve the issue as soon as possible. The apartment buildings and the complex community is also clean and well maintained. If you want a comfortable living space for an affordable rate, I definitely recommend Oakland Apartments!!:)"

"Oakland Apartments was what we needed! Moving in from out of state, the dramatic jump in apartment rates was overwhelming, but Oakland made things a bit more feasible for us. Location is perfect, such that a commute into DC is easier than most other places. Available parking has also been a huge perk. The whole complex feels like a nice break from the surrounding city & is frequently maintained to uphold the quality of the landscape. The maintenance team responds very quickly to any requests & is very friendly. Luckily, we had the gym in our same building, so we could just walk downstairs for a workout. Laundry is also available onsite. Over the year & a half that we've been here, Oakland has made intentional strides to make this a place that cares for its tenants well. Grateful for our time here!"
