Reviews of Kendall Square Apartments
"An honest review from someone who lived here for 2 years. The apartments themselves are beautiful. You will be hard pressed to find anywhere in Lynchburg as nice and spacious for the price. The downside to this apartment complex is the management and the company. Work orders are slow to be completed and management will do everything they can to not have to pay for repairs/pest issues. During the two years I lived here, my apartment's AC broke 4 times until the "Band-Aids" couldn't fix it anymore and they replaced the whole unit. Assigned parking is also awful and other residents are ruthless when it comes to towing. To sum it up in one sentence: a great complex ruined by a so-so team and policies. For me, the space and price where worth the downsides, but to each their own."
"These apartment are really very spacious and beautiful, loads of storage. My mother-in-law moved in this past weekend, Cole was very helpful and knowledgeable. He saw her walking by the office on moving day and asked if we were doing OK. We said that I thought a light bulb was out and he told us the one over the sink had a separate switch. We needed a custom shower head installed, and we didn't have a tool to get the current swivel head off. We told them on Monday morning, and it was done that afternoon! She also required a change to the door knob and they took care of that also. He explained how to reach him if needed. He was very responsive to all of our questions and concerns, no matter how minor and never made us feel like we were a bother. Couldn't be more pleased!!!!!"
"I have been living here for a year and a half, and it has a pretty terrible experience to say the least. When Tim Mayberry was the property manager, things were a lot different than they are now. Nearly every night I am woken up by my noisy neighbors blasting ghetto music or by the child jumping around overhead with what sounds like bowling balls strapped to his ankles. I also have the lovely experience of hearing my neighbors under me having sex while I’m getting ready for work in the mornings. I have called the office dozens of times about this and am told that they cannot do anything about “living noises”. Additionally, the parking is the most horrendous mess. Each apartment only gets two parking spaces despite the fact that there are plenty of empty ones. One of my roommates was towed for parking in a spot that isn’t owned by anyone. We can never have friends over because there are only 3 spots for guests open and they are always full because residents end up having to use them with the lack of parking available to tenants. I appreciate that it is close to my job, and basically anywhere that you would need to go in Lynchburg, and also that we have a patio that faces the woods instead of the parking lot. These are literally the only things that have kept me from running out the door. It is better use of your money to pay a little more for an apartment that respects its tenants and neighbors that don’t deprive you of your peace."
"It’s a nice place. Friendly neighbors, guaranteed 2 parking spaces and fairly quiet neighborhood. Only thing I have not liked is the increase in rent after being here 1 year. I have looked around for another apartment but they all seem to cost the same.(within $100) The location is great too."
"I lived in Kendall Square this last year from the first day the apartments were open. I was attending Liberty at the time. The apartments themselves are nice. There is nothing extravagant but it was a comfortable and nice place to live. The place is nice and right behind a Kroger. Very convenient for going and grabbing groceries and accessories at any time. Came with a fridge, dishwasher, washer and dryer. They have a workout room on site but the code never worked. I complained several times but they never fixed it and would never return my calls. So the only time you could use the room was when the office was open. Now the management and rules here were ridiculous. If you owned a company car with the company logo on the vehicle, you could not park in the lot. You could not have a grill (they kept saying they were going to build grills on site, but it never happened while I was there). Halfway through the lease, they added a new section to the leasing contract saying that if your room smelled of smoke (from cigarretes, ctc.), they were going to charge you a huge fine to clean it when you left. They implemented this halfway through the lease to even include the people who had been there for several months already. They require a deposit that you will not get back. They will wash the carpets and other stuff with every room and charge you for that on top of keeping your deposit. They also have an option to pay with a credit card. No one in my house owns checks as we pay for everything with a card or cash. They charged a $9 fee and then lost our payment almost every month. We would have to go into the offices with a credit statement showing that we paid them. Also, since they thought we weren't paying them, they put legal notices at our door every month saying that they would throw us out if they did not receive the payment in 5 days. And anytime you owe them money, they will give you 5 days to get the money to them or they will turn you over to a collection agency. They are so annoying. They would never return calls except when one of our roommates would get tired of it and would leave a message demanding that they return our calls and explain why they were trying to double charge us and evict us for not paying. Other random things. You can only have certain things on the front porch of your apartment. I had my bike out there one night after a ride and there was a notice on the door the next morning saying that it was not permitted according to our contract and I will need to move it by the end of the day or we would be evicted and be responsible for paying the rent every month until someone else rents that apartment. I believe you could own a pet but it had to be a certain size and age. You could not have a puppy. The dog had to be at least 1 year old. It also had to be registered with the city and other random things. You have to let them know in writing at least 3 months prior to end of lease that you will not return or they will charge you. If they do not have ALL the keys the day the lease ends, they will charge you rent everyday until it is returned. This one was annoying when one of our roommates was in New York for Winter Break and we had to rush deliver the key to them so they would stop charging us. You are not allowed to have any musical instruments. Overall, the atmosphere from the staff was not friendly at all. It was all business. It was never, "hey, we're so glad you're here!" but rather, "rent is due on the 1st of the month and no later than the 5th or we'll see you in court." The apartments are nice but it is not worth having to deal with the rules, regulations, and staff. I would not stay here again unless it was absolute necessity."
