"Overly expensive apartments, dirty facilities, and rude staff. I called The Billy Byrd after finding them online. Studio apartments for $714? Spacious one bed one bath apartments for $840? It seemed too good to be true! Unfortunately it was. Immediately upon calling, the lady I spoke with sounded rude and inconvenienced. I told her I was interested in touring their studio and 1 bed 1 bath apartments, and she asked what my price range was. I gave her the ones listed on their own website and was interrupted by an annoyed "We don't have anything by that price, you have to look at the prices on our website" When I arrived at the location I showed them their own website and asked why their website gave misleading information and was given deflective answers. Upon touring the facilities the first apartment they showed me was a dingy small 1 bed 1 bath apartment in the basement of the building. It looked nothing like the online photos, had maybe 400sq/ft of space, and the only natural light came from a single tiny basement window, the bathroom looked unfinished, and the price...? $1000/mo Moral of the story: false advertising, overly expensive apartments, and rude staff. Stay faaaar away unless something changes."
"I had a showing today and my encounter with the man in the leasing office was unpleasant. I was immediately turned off. He asked if I had pets and I said yes and then proceeded to tell me he could only show me one apartment. Which he doesn’t know I’m allowed to have my service animal in any apartment of my choosing. Then the apartments that I discussed over the phone were a different price than the ones he was going to show me. I asked why they were so high and he said that I couldn’t afford it if I was looking for the prices I was talking about to someone over the phone about. Which this man has no idea what my financial situation is. He was rude there was no greeting at the door. To be honest he’s the reason why I won’t be pursuing an application."
"OCCASIONALLY, and I mean maybe once a week I'd park in that one Future Resident Parking spot after getting home at 3am after work. Regardless, I figure it's not hurting a future resident because they arent viewing any units at the times I was there, and to be frank it also never impacted any other resident living there from being able to access the building any differently than they normally would. NOT A SINGLE TIME. Even though I'd only parked up in the top part of the lot a handful of times, it was still enough times that another tenant left a one page letter on my windshield threatening me, telling me I didn't have a paid parking pass even though they don't know what I do and do not have, and either that person or another person also threw an entire large cup full of soda from Wendy's on my car, that I came out to find still dripping down the side of my car and windshield with the empty cup sitting right next to my car. I reported this to Hall Associates and they did nothing but laugh it off and say "did you see it happen" even though they have cameras in the parking lot. September 14th I got a letter on my door, but this time from Hall Associates, again in a threatening tone. Unbeknownst to them I'd already made a deliberate decision to park where I'm supposed to AT ALL TIMES. But I took it as it was, I was in the wrong, and I kept it moving. I did however decide that day onward to document and photograph every car that parked in the same spots I was because I felt I was being targeted. I did this for 27 days straight and still do on a daily basis. Yes, I'm being forced to be petty, against everything that I believe in. Before, during, and after parking in the spots designated for handicap or future residents I noticed many more people other than myself parking in them without handicap decals. So, I guess if you have a parking decal you can park anywhere and not get towed, but the moment you don't have a parking decal you get towed, regardless if you paid for the decal and they know your make, model and license plate. On October 9th, 2023 I parked my vehicle in the paid parkng lot in the same spot I have been in for months, and where we, as paying tenants, are allowed to park. The time was approximately 7:30PM. The next morning I come outside at 8:30AM to head to a 9:00AM hair appointment and find my car has been towed. It was towed less than 45 minutes after I'd parked it the night before. It cost me $210 to retrieve it from the tow lot and had dirt and mud caked all down the side of it. Lynn Hall refused to refund me what it cost to get my car back. She claimed that I was told I had to display the decal and that they would not be doing anything about it. I find it interesting that they punish paying tenants for parking way they pay to park. They have no problem ignoring repeated requests for repairs or potential hazards, acknowledging them, and then never following through with ANYTHING. They're so busy worrying about where somone is parkng when it has an effect on NO ONE they don't have any time left to actually work. There are other reviews and pictures on google of another tenant being towed at request of an associate at Hall Associates and that tenant had a perfectly visible decal and the tow truck driver just said they "didn't see it." The office also refused to pay back that tenant. It is absolutely insane and unethical to have a tow system that could EVER have a paying tenants car towed PERIOD. What level of rocket science is needed to type up a spreadsheet with make, model, and license plate and give it to the tow company and say NEVER tow these vehicles unless told otherwise. They had no problem telling the tow company to tow that tenants vehicle whom I have no doubt was also targeted. They had no problem calling the tow company and telling them not to tow my car AGAIN when they couldn't produce a replacement parking decal."
"Very disappointed in the management at this location. Have lived here since November. I pay for the parking pass monthly. Always have my parking pass in view. Whether it be in dashboard or behind mirror, Similar to other tenants that also park in parking pass lot. Had my vehicle towed this morning. Called Gwen, manager of apartments, and spoke on phone about situation. First she denied presence of parking tag when confronted about visual evidence and having photos of tag in dashboard. Continued to place blame on me claiming she did not see the tag. Then shifted blame on to towing company. Stating vehicle was towed if driver of towing company did not see my tag. Continued to tell Gwen I in fact have photos of tag in dashboard and she continued to claim she did not see it and admitted to being the person who called the towing company. Also claimed she didn’t call towing company for last few months due to tenants moving in. Very upset with how this was handled and being told it was my fault even though I have tag placed in vision from outside of vehicle. Was told I would not be reimbursed for $150 fee to get vehicle out despite situation continuing to not be my fault. Photos added were taken in impound lot before paying and being in vehicle."
"I don't currently live here but have been out to this amazing building several times in the last week. The leasing manager on site (Currently from 10AM - 2PM) is absolutely amazing. She's friendly, energetic and was just as excited about the building and it's history as I was. I got to meet several of the maintenance guys as well and they all were friendly and seemed very competent but most importantly also happy to be restoring such a cool place. The building is just incredible and the studio apartments they've created out of the space are truly unique and beautiful. It's modern, industrial style so might not be everyone's cup of tea at fist glance but check out the model apartment to see what can be done in the space. Love all the quirks of original floors, walls and chalk boards. Plenty of community space in the building as well. I highly recommend checking it out."
