"I’m a huge fan of history and this whole town experience was great for learning all about the colonial settlement of Williamsburg. Quick rundown of our trip, we parked at the massive visitor center that screams, we are America. Then we walked to the governor’s Palace. It’s a decent walk for young ones but doable. After the 25 min tour of the palace we got lost in the maze. After that we headed to the blacksmith, tin shop, book binder, leather maker, and tavern tour. The local volunteer walking around was eager to talk to us about all the great things in town. We ended our stay with a trip on the shuttle back to the visitor center. Bring good walking shoes!"
"We found that the Colonial Williamsburg Visitors Center is an excellent place to begin your journey. The center is loaded with displays and an orientation film. It is also loaded with knowledgeable people to advise you. The transportation shuttles leave and return here and there is a great elevated pathway to the park, if you want to walk. Of course you can also get any type pass here as well."
"Very neat place to visit. Lots of activities for the kids, especially in warmer weather. Pool, splash pad, corn hole, putt-putt, basketball, etc(*some things may be connected to the hotel and not the visitor center). Very nice store and information inside. The fountain map and raised map are very cool! We enjoyed our stay and visit!"
"Colonial Williamsburg is the best outdoor/indoor museum in the country, and with costumed reenactors, is a lesson in living history. They call it the Disneyland of Republicans. And while Philadelphia is known for the Declaration of Independence and Constitution; Williamsburg has garnered far more attention because of the vastness of the presentation. John D. Rockefeller and the Williamsburg Foundation spared no expense in renovating and rebuilding this incredibly historic area. You literally feel as though you have stepped back into time, as there are no vehicles allowed on its streets. I love history, and have been to many historical sites, and I can tell you, that Williamsburg is the best and most unique place I have every been to. It is not to be missed. You'll literally need 2-3 days to fully explore the entire town. I really appreciate that the state of Virginia seems to be one of the few states that has really tried to save and maintain history."
"Our family had a wonderful experience at Colonial Williamsburg I had gone as a child years ago and wanted to make sure my children had a similar opportunity. The living history and demonstrations were great, the facilities well kept. When I was there years ago we did not have the opportunity to go on a carriage ride and I felt that would possibly make the trip even more memorable for the kids-it certainly did! The guide was phenomenal, engaged with the kids beautifully and we had just a wonderful time. We have four children so the cost of tickets to go was a little steep for us but we expect to pay more with more people-well worth it"
