Reviews of Sentara Pain Management Specialists
"The worst and i do mean the worst place ever . I got a lumbar injection on 9/22 and i called a week later to let them know i was still having pain and i got no call back . Its now 10/17 and still have yet to get a call back. They also dont answer the phone at the office. Very unprofessional."
"I was a patient of Ali Baalaki. The nursing staff was very professional, and courteous. I have never been so humiliated and disgusted, as I was on that day. My initial appointment was for back pain. He came in shook my hand, and than completely medical gaslighted me during the 5 minute visit. Your overweight, do you exercise? How many times? This is how the conversation started. I asked if I could get something in writing to reduce my hours so I wouldn't have to be on my feet for 8 hours with my back hurting bad as it was. I was told that's for disability, and your not getting it. Just nasty. I will not EVER return back to this practice, because of my experience, and the lack of empathy, and sympathy!!"
"I have an appt at 3:00 pm. But the lady called me to come at 10:30 instead. I told her I cant because my husband drove me to work, i just said I will come before 2 or early as I can. I came 140 and waiting for more than a hours, the front desk said that they keep my appt at 3pm. So, whats the reason of coming early. I havent eaten yet because I am not allowed to eat for 6 hours before the injection."
"I was a patient of Dr. Lin's, on a weak pain killer for my chronic pain which comes from numerous different things that definitely warrant pain management. So after being on this certain medication for over a year, it stopped working... I told her during numerous appointments that I had with her that it stopped working and I stopped taking it and she did and said nothing about it, just kept saying "thing will get better." Well, of course, nothing did get better, and after a few more appointments and drug screens, my future appointment was cancelled without my knowledge, because my drug test came back negative. Told her she knew why that was. Even the medication said it was as needed. I wouldn't trust this office at all. I'm not sure how the other doctor is, but I did nothing wrong, and now I'm having a hard time finding another pain doctor who will accept me now with my worsening symptoms. My PCP and Wound Healing Doctor keep referring me out left and right and I keep getting denied."
"After suffering chronic pain to both of my legs for 2 years due to injuries and surgeries I was finally referred to Dr. Lin for pain management. Being a new patient I had to wait over a month for an appointment. When I showed up for the appointment things started out good. I was called back from the waiting room on time and given the initial check and registration from the nurse, then left to wait for the Doctor. After a few minutes the nurse came in to tell me I was next and ask if I wanted some water. I then sat waiting (in a very hard and uncomfortable chair) for 50 minutes. My appointment time was 8:45, it was now 9:40 and I still had not seen the Doctor and no one came in to check on me or tell me what was going on. At 9:45 I decided that I had waited long enough, both my legs hurt from sitting in the hard straight backed chair and my knee was starting to swell, it was time to leave and make arrangements with my Doctor to see someone else. As I was leaving the nurse ask "are you leaving" I said yes, she then got an attitude with me and said "I told you that you we're next". I said yes but that was over 40 minutes ago, the Doctor is running to late. Her reply; "She is not running late, she's on time". So I asked what time my appointment was, "8:45", and what time is it now, "9:45", I thanked her and proceeded out through the waiting room. She had a few parting words for me as I left but I didn't stop to listen. As I was passing through the waiting room I was ask to talk with the office manager. I explained the situation and my feelings on the matter. Told her I was a reasonable person and if someone had came in, told me they were running late, ask to reschedule or if I wanted to sit back in the waiting room where its more comfortable I would have accepted and been fine with it, but that's not what happened. The only thing she would offer was to make another appointment. I told her I would reschedule but only if the Doctor I was going to see would speak with me first about todays visit. They declined so I didn't schedule another appointment. After leaving I called my PCP to tell them what happened and ask what to do next. Getting in to see a pain management specialist is not easy. They have to review your case and decide if they want to accept you as a patient, it takes a long time. They agreed that leaving was the right thing to do and that they would have done the same thing in that situation. Now I'm stuck without pain management treatments or therapies, waiting on a hip replacement to correct 1 injury that I've had 3 surgeries on already. As well as sever soft tissue injures to my knee, shoulder and elbow that I have to contend with while trying to get them repaired 1 at a time. I feel that the way I was treated was disrespectful and uncalled for. Nearly every time I've had to go to the Sentra Careplex in Hampton I've been treated rudely by Doctors and staff. I didn't even want to take the referral to them but felt I had no choice if I wanted help... never again. I will never willingly go into or be taken to this hospital again. Also, I do not believe the reviews they give themselves on their website. Compared to reviews from independent review sites they are either "cherry picked" or just false."
